TMH- AO- Federer?? I find it surprising, but anything can happen. I feel that this is year will not be fed's year...

People have been ruling him out every year since 2008, it's laughable. With no Rafa last year he won Wimbledon, his record agaisnt Djokovic was very good and Murray has never beaten him in a Slam. It's a bit of a shot in the dark but I certainly think he will be challenging and it's going to be very difficult for Andy to overhaul him in the rankings.

I'm more interested to see how Nadal fares, if and when he returns to competitive tennis - a date which I understand has now been put back to Monte Carlo, if the rumours surrounding this are to be believed.

Well it did take him two and a half years before he won his last Slam, but I suppose we write him off at our peril. He's determined and he's made sure his schedule won't be too onerous. In fact this is it as of Nov. 2012 according to his official website -
http://www.rogerfederer.com/en/tennis/schedule/year/2013.html
He did play six exhibitions matches in S America in December against top players so, as he's no-show in Kooyong, then, unless he changes his mind, and there's still one place available (also Nishikori may now withdraw), he must feel that that is sufficient for him before the AO.

Ok, I do agree that he has a good shot but, it is Nole who is concerning for me in the AO. If Andy meets Fed, he will win it but if he meets Nole, it is gonna be very difficult...

I think we're going to have to get used to Andy/Nole matches. Don't know if my creaking nervous system can handle too many of them though!

I know what you mean ...
I really like Djoko, but I can sit on my feelings when he's playing Andy!

I'm the exact same Aileen!Although the chest-beating stuff has always annoyed me,I really do genuinely like Novak's tennis and him as a person-he always comes across to me as such a nice, decent guy-but when he's up against Andy (and especially in the aftermath of him beating Andy) I do tend to find myself forgetting all that...

I could do without the chest-beating too, although I think he's tamed it down a little now.
