Alas none want to load for me.

Looks like Wawrinka is going to survive this.

^^Shame about the streams.

Stan wins 6-3, 3-6, 6-1. Nice recovery from him after the second set. Carreno-Busta played well. It's been a great week for him - hopefully he can build on this.

A good boost for Busta's points and earnings! Up 60 places in the rankings to 168, and € 21,130.

Demolition job by Ferrer so far.  Taken 1st set 6-1.

Much better play by Seppi now.  Going with serve in the 2nd.  3-3.

Seppi reminds me heavily of Simon. Can rally all day and a good counter puncher but no weapons and has absolutely nothing to damage the top players with better defence.

So basically another version of Ferrer? Ferrer's 'weapon' is his brick wall defense.

Ferrer wins 2nd set 6-4.  Should be an interesting final.

A weaker version, yes. Didn't watch today's match but expect it was a right bore-fest.

I'd say his main weapon other than movement is his return of serve - he's very aggressive with it and it often enables him to dictate rallies afterwards (helped by his style of playing close to the baseline). He's always in the top few players in the return stats.

Ferrer wins 2nd set 6-4.  Should be an interesting final.

A repeat of their Buenos Aires final from earlier in the year. Although Ferrer's one of my favourites, I wouldn't be sad to see Stan win this. The last title he won was Chennai in 2011 - another title win is long overdue for him. It's hard to believe that he's only won 3 titles in his career - with his talent, you'd think he'd have won more.

From 11 finals too. For some reason he seems to struggle to maintain his form in the big matches. Although perhaps not surprising given how he often gets so tight in the big moments. With a stronger mental fortitude he'd easily be a top 10 player.

I'd forgotten about Buenos Aires, but didn't watch the final anyway.  Having just watched a video of the decider, Ferrer was on fire and totally outplayed Stan.  I'm not sure though that, given recent events, Ferrer can replicate that form tomorrow, so hopefully Stan might just be in with a chance.

In Madrid, Serena Williams just taken an hour, and a tie-break (7-5), to win first set v 18 yr old, 5ft 4in  Yulia Putinseva who knocked Laura Robson out of Dubai.

Putinseva is fun to watch.

More normal Serena scoreline for 2nd set though. Takes it 6- 1.
