Well done Daisy - Nadal seems to be back to his old self - I really felt sorry for Verdasco this afternoon but thyat match carried a few of the very best shots I have ever seen.

So pleased for Nadal .... can't wait to see him up against Soderling!

I agree with that.  I think he needs more match practise and less of whatever else it is he's doing.

'Zactly Daisy, he'll face some weaker opponents than in a Masters draw, he needs some confidence, and he isn't going to get that from winning football-tennis matches on a practice court, he'll gain confidence by going out there and beating fellow peers.

That basically ends the small chance he had of claiming second seed at Roland Garros.

It was unlikely anyway, needed Djokovic doing very badly.

The other question is Federer getting the record for most weeks at number 1, for which he needs to be number 1 after Roland Garros. If Nadal does very well at Rome, Madrid and RG, then there's a good chance he'll overtake Federer straight after RG.

Well .............. actually .... Nadal playing well is more important to me than Nadal at # 3, 2 or 1.  He most probably views things differently - but, I was just delighted to see him in such good form at Monte Carlo.

Basically, for Nadal to be second seed in RG he has to earn 1300 points more then Djokovic earns in the next month.

Nadal plays Rome and Madrid in that time, so has to win at least one and reach the semis in the other (1360 points), or the final in the other (1600 points), or win the other (2000 points).

Which would leave Djokovic having to earn 60/300/700 points in Rome, Belgrade and Madrid.

So basically Nadal has to win both Rome and Madrid to stand a chance.
