It will be a test of his character, when the going gets tough, can he stick it out?

Pony has withdrawn from Cincy, so I guess that answers any questions.

Clearly, Fran's all facial expression and no character

How will that affect the draw, as Del Pony had a bye in the first round surely they would replace him with Gilles Simon as the next highest seed and give Simon's place to a lucky loser.  Not sure how it works when the person withdrawing has a bye.

I think a lucky loser gets the place, though that might be wrong...

If they just straight up replace him, that is the luckiest loser ever. I think that must have been the case cuz Simon played earlier. Lucky loser indeed...

Simon's already played so too late for that, I think a lucky loser gets the place, as boogers said above. Usual practice IIRC. Dead lucky though, nice place in the second round against a non-seed!

Del Potro replaced by Benneteau as a lucky loser.

Benneteau .............. haven't heard anything about him for a while.  Lucky break for him if he can capitalise, which I doubt......

I seem to remember seeing him in Dubai... Think  Although I'd have to look up who he was playing etc., but I seem to remember being quite surprised at how well he played.  Think

It is good for Andy that Del Potro does not participate in Cincinatti.  Del Potro is 40 points ahead in the US Open race so this gives Andy an excellent chance to overtake Del Potro in this race and earn big bucks when he wins the USO Smile (not that he needs it of course).
