No not at all. A lot of people at my club take the grip of their rackets completely then put two overgrips on instead.
I've just removed the original grip and put on two Prince DuraTec grips...feels good, will try it out on Thursday! Thanks for your help Smile
Tried it on Thursday, it was awesome to have a racquet that felt like it was the correct size for my hand! Very Happy

I had a bad day on Thursday but that doesn't take away from the fact my racquet felt it's most comfortable in a long time.

As long as it seems it's gonna work for you in the long term then it's a good thing no matter how it may or may not have affected you the first time using it.  I may have to consider using overgrips in future.

You only really need to consider it if you think your racquet slips on contact. Bear in mind overgrips need replacing fairly regularly.

The current racquet seems to be perfectly fine with slippage, but we'll see what the new one will do.

It's probably more to do with the moisture your hand produces rather than the racquet, if it's not slipping with your current racquet then I would assume it would be fine with your next one.

Work on the accuracy first, the power will come as you get older. Make sure your throw up is high enough so you are not rushing your swing, the ball should only just be falling as you hit it, with the racket coming from vertically behind your back and hitting downwards on the ball slightly not up into the air.  Hope that makes sense Smile
