That's only in one dictionary. I believe it would have been widely used enough to appear in several dictionaries before then. so there.

Hmm... I think Webster's Revised Unabridged, 1913 Edition precedes JK Rowling rather. Wink

Oxford is what matters. :P

And in any case, my point is that dictionaries are being constantly updated. wink

Whatever. Wink

You stated that JK Rowling introduced "stumped" to dictionaries. I was just pointing out that that simply is not the case.

A mistake from me. wink I should have said that she introduced it to that version of Oxford's.

Anyway, the whole big issue is about the ever evolving language. So there..... :P

Love the pedant in you John. Smile

Not denying that. wink

But the biggest point is that English is an ever evolvong language. wink

And I am pretty annoyed at the amount of rubbish I am holding in my head. ranting I am considering therapy before uni starts. I have to remove newspaper articles from four years ago. ranting

By the way, since you are a pedant too, why dont you change the 'i' to 'I' in your personal text?? Just a thought, let it be if there if it has another meaning.

Real pedants never admit their mistakes...

I still think pedantics should be a word Whistle
