Davis Cup Final discussion!

This is actually Czech's best chances since Rafa isn't there or else, a singles win is guaranteed for Spain. Smile

Yeah it's probably realistically their only chance for the next few years at least given Stepanek's age and the lack of young Czech players coming through. For that reason, although I'm a Ferrer fan I wouldn't be too disappointed if Tomas beat him tomorrow to win the tie. It must be a special feeling to win the Davis Cup at home.

Czech's win the doubles match and take a 2-1 overall lead  shocking.
come on Ferrer, you can beat Berdy   pray

So want Spain to win or rather CR to lose or to be precise Birdy to lose because if they win I fear it could inspire him for the new season and I do not want him breathing down our Andy's neck thank you  very much.  So come on Ferrer and Almagro you can do it.  Hopefully the Czechs will be tired after playing 2 days in a row.

Andy has Berdych's number. He had, what, a 3-1 H2H against him this year?.. with the one loss coming on clay. And if Berdych is breathing down Andy's neck, it would mean Andy would have a pretty horrific season given increased expectations. Berdych barely has half his ranking points ffs.

Not on this surface. Even if he had been fit all season I'd still favour Berdych to beat him in these conditions, especially given how Rafa often performs post USO.

I still feel Berdy would challenge him but at the end of it, Rafa will be able to win it...
Their H2H also seems to be in Rafa's favour--12-3. And those 3 wins for Berdych came during 2005 and 2006.

Yeah I agree with you - Berdych's capable of playing well against Rafa and will often take a set, but in the end Rafa's the one who wins because he's more consistent and defends so well. Berdych's often low first serve percentage doesn't help him out either. Rafa's beaten him on all surfaces now so I think he'd have won here too.

Ferrer/Berdych will be interesting today. I'd put Ferrer as a narrow favourite for this match (probably in 4 sets) as he usually handles the big hitters well and is less likely to have the lapses in concentration that Berdych has. Berdych is likely to be tired after playing over 7 hours over the last 2 days. But he could well play inspired tennis and win in front of his home crowd.

Just joining the match and Ferrer leading Berdych 6-2 6-3 2-1 at the moment (break up in 3rd)

Keeps freezing for me, but I think it's a problem our end. Comms saying Ferrer playing brilliantly.

Thanks Elena.  Had already found the link on LSH.  Livestream from Eurosport kept sticking so I don't think it's your computer.  Anyway mine's fine now so hope yours is too.

Oh heck 5-4 to Birdman.   Come on Daveed!!

Come on Ferrer my lovely boy! Has to be Spain for me, purely because Ferrer has had a great season and this would top it off nicely for him. Sentimental I know, but there we are.

I'd like to see Spain do it just to show they can do it without Rafa too

Ooh, is Berdych getting out of his pram? No, maybe not. Good boy.

I'd forgotten it was 3-1 to Andy against Berdych this year. By jove I think he's got it lol.

And Ferrer does it!  He looks sooooo delighted and no wonder.  He's been playing the best tennis of his career this season.   Love that man - one of my faves. wub
