^ I think enjoying his tennis is paramount to him, and maybe playing Davis Cup makes him feel good?
He loves it Elly, he has said so many times, loves the team atmosphere. It will do him good, confidence wise and I expect it will physically be good too.

That's what I think, Jan.  I know his fans want him to win loads of Slams etc., but he's his own person, and does what makes him happy.  More power to his elbow!  Smile

Playing the DC tie will give Andy more matches, and he does love DC, so it might give him a lift.

I'm wary of the clay because of his back, but I don't believe Andy would put himself at a risk. If there is any chance of him injuring himself I suspect he wouldn't play, however much he loves it. Fingers crossed Andy plays and comes through unscathed and fingers crossed for GB.

Yes Elly, I agree. He also has the ability, the popularity and public presence, and even the finance to promote British tennis and h elp youngsters to take up the game and succeed. This will come thru his association with the LTA. He has made his interest known, I Bakelite em he is already involved in a small way and who knows what will come with time.

At least DC is just couple of days and it may give him a bit of an insight as to how well his surgery will stand up to clay because of the oncoming season. He should have time in between to rest his back and know how to handle any soreness and pain so that he can go on with the upcoming tourneys.

For the last time, the back is NOT injured, it is just sore. Being sore is different from being injured. Soreness isn't something to be seriously worried about. Andy was rusty, at the AO that's all. He strives on playing in Patriotic tournaments anyway. He will rise and own the servebots / fat simple basic twins.

Settle, petal.  Yes, he's not 'injured' per se, but who knows how long his back has plagued him, and for how long he's lived with moving in a certain way to try to protect it?  Successful surgery, notwithstanding, Andy's in a period of rehabilitation and cannot possibly be match fit, as you say.  I think people are just substituting the recovery period with the word 'injury'.  We're all on the same page, really.

We're not saying he is injured, I said soreness but even that needs time to settle. Elly and TJ and this old girl too know well what we're talking about.

Yep, him and Wilander. I reckon they share a flasher mac......with sincere apologies to anyone who gets offended by the idea of Wilander flashing anything at anyone. Just my opinion Smile.

I can't say I've had much experience of Wilander - if you get my drift - so I can't comment.  Castle needs to get his hair sorted and stop calling Andy 'Andrew'.  I'm not sure if he thinks that makes him special, but it just makes him come across as a prat, tbh.
