Fed. Ungratious in Victory

I actually didn't think the post-match interview was so bad. What could he have said better? And even if you think it was bad, he was definitely trying to be as sympathetic as possible even if he didn't manage.
I'm not a Fed fan, but the hate some people on here and elsewhere, especially Rafa fans, really astounds me. You can think he's not so gracious in defeat and that he's stuck-up etc etc, but the hate, wow!

I was just thinking about the tennis players, in general, today.  Most of them really look very attractive when they are not all stressed out on the court.  The Williams sisters look very glamorous when they get their posh togs on .........

I think if you think Andy M could have beaten him on Sunday, you're sorely mistaken. Fed goes into "the zone" in finals usually. I dont even think Rafa on top form would have beaten him this year.
That Roddick came so tantilisingly close, yet didn't, is not to detract from what was the match of his life, but also Fed's iron will to dig in and be the greatest tennis player of all time.

I completely agree with Mark, he isn't gracious in defeat. Rafa is. I also hate the fact he damns Andy with faint praise, while you get the feeling he cant stand him.

I hated his speech and his attire on Sunday, but if I'd just written history and had given my absolute all for over 4 hours, I'm not sure I would have thought of diplomacy.

I hate his newly acquired arrogance, he used to be very, very diplomatic and genuine a couple of years back.

But if any player has the right to gloat and be arrogant, it has to be the best tennis player ever.

And without question that player is Fed.

You're so wise, Tally.  I agree with all of that.  Hell, I can't stand Fed now, but he's earned his stripes.  No denying it.  Just wish he were a little more gracious, but maybe that edge to his personality got him where he is today.

Roddick played nowhere near as well against Fed as he did against Murray. He didn't serve nearly as well for a start. His percentage was much lower, yet Fed took over 4 hours to break him.

Federer served great, but with Murray's return game, I think he would have had a great chance of beating Fed.
