Well Marcos made a very nice eloquant speech, thanking everyone and saying that it was all like a dream.
Fed. on the other hand burst into tears and couldnt get any words out.

Got to love Federer - he was totally overcome today with this win and not afraid to be openly emotional.  So much for his victories meaning less to him the more he wins!!

You're the best Roger  goodjob   (for now anyway.... until a certain young Scot reaches his peak  Wink )

After the first set I was thinking "what's going on here!?" but it was only momentarily. All credit to Baghdatis though, I'm sure we'll see him in more Slam finals.

Federer played really well, stunning performance out there, and what a speech. So emotional bless him Smile

Well done Roger. You're a great player and a great person, but I just wish someone could flaming beat you!

confused   I find it difficult to know how anyone can dislike Roger Federer.  I could understand it if he was an arrogant loud-mouth, but he certainly seems like a really good person who is always genuinely delighted with his wins and utterly gracious in defeat.  What's not to like?  dontknow

Edit:  And, of course, there is the small matter of his being drop dead gorgeous too!  Wink  Whistle

I can't understand it either, he deserves all the credit he gets, he's an amazing tennis player and deserves to be king. Maybe it annoys people that one player is so much better than the rest but he seems like a really nice guy who puts on a confident face most of the time which he should.

There are always people who are too nice and that can be irritating make you suspicious but I don't think that's the case with Federer.

Yup, Mark,  I think seeing him today trying to speak after winning the Australian Open just underlined the fact that he is as human as the rest of us.  I don't think we can even come close to imagining how hard he has worked and continues to work in order to achieve what he does.  His reaction today proves that he takes nothing for granted, and for someone in his position to remain so human and grounded speaks volumes about the integrity and character of the man.   notworthy
