French Open - Other Players

Quote

To be honest, I see emotions as part of sports, so his monologues, cheering up doesn't bother me. I like it. The main thing is, show your emotions, but stay focused and work hard then you can get better. Wink Very Happy
Emotions are grand, if they work for you, and not against you.  If they work against you, then you have to re-think, and find another way.com.

I was curious about which language Federer speaks at home ... my comm today said he is a German speaking Swiss.  Anyone know?
Mum is South African, it might even be English!

Exactly, make the most of what you have   Little tongue man congratulations to Rafa, i'm not a fan of either Rafa or Fedex, so for me the result is arbitary, but i appreciate good tennis when i see it, here's hoping someone new steps up to the plate sooner rather than later (oh and not Nolly although he could get his chance at wimby)

Not a fan of Nadal  shocking  Go directly to jail; do not collect £200; check your PMs on the way ... lol

Don't agree on that one. Andy has far more variety in his game, far more talent.

Very true, however Rafa makes the most of his talents and limited variety - he's maximised it so to speak, where as i feel Andy has yet to really maximise what he has - even though its far superior to what Rafa has, unlike Rafa he has for whatever reason not yet taken it to his next level. will he? yes i for one think its just around the corner, we are constantly reminded that he will be playing his best tennis from 24 onwards. so are all waiting to exhale  nervous

That's it in a nutshell.  We all agree that Andy has a huge talent. Nobody (apart from the shitstirrers) do not agree re the talent Andy has, and how he can play from time to time, when he is in a good place.   However, he can't seem to get over that final hurdle, and can't seem to get back up, when he is in a bad place.  That has to be in his mindset.  For me, a mindset that is fixed.  I don't see it changing.  I see him always as trying as hard as HE can.  Not sure what else anyone could ask, tbh.

I have a strange feeling this Wimbledon is going to be the turning point for Andy. Just hope he goes in Djokovic's half.

"talent is a special or innate skill, aptitude or ability"
So, yes I do think Andy's innate skills are superior to Rafa's.
Rafa, on the other hand has, as PT says, utilised his talent to the full and he is mentally the toughest sportsman certainly in tennis and probably beyond.
Andy has yet to do this.

Quote From Fedex after loosing to Rafa:

“Obviously I’m the one who’s playing with smaller margins so obviously I’m always going to go through a bit more ups and downs,” Federer said. “Whereas Rafa is content doing the one thing the entire time.”

can't help himself can he? Rolling Eyes

What's Rafa's 'one thing'?  Having the beating of Fed?  That's a silly comment, and smacks of sour grapes.

I think he was referring to the metronomic way that Rafa plays, no real variety.
