Gasquet out of Roland Garros
« on: May 31, 2006, 07:33 PM »
I didn't see a topic for this match. I saw the whole match between Nalbandian and Richard Gasquet and of course, I'm a huge fun of Gasquet's. In the first set, I was scared during every ball Gasquet hit. When he won the second set, I set my heart at rest. I was confident he was going to pull it off, he was going to beet Nalbandian. But physically, he couldn't handle it in the 4th set and lost the match. He was very sportsmanlike, he even gave out signatures and that doesn't happen a lot when a player has lost the game.
I'm disappointed because I won't be able to watch him Saturday when I'm going to Roland Garros. All my favourites are out of the game, first Andy, now Richard. Now I'm supporting Ancic and Olivier Rochus, and I won't be watching Federer because I'm on strike. I still hate him.
Aside from that, it was a good match and Gasquet did all the could.

Final score, Nalbandian 6-2 3-6 7-5 6-0.
Watched the whole match as well. Tough one - like both players A LOT.
The start was good but fantabuloso 3rd set.
Gasquet really made Nalbandian fight for it - and it's good to see someone like Gasquet making Nalbandian work for each point. Good net play and some great drop shots - again i think, overused but when it works - IT WORKS! =D> =D> Not nice to see Richie out so early since he played so well and i believe for the first time took a set of Nalbandian but i think everyone knew it was going to be a tough match.
Thought Gasquet gave away the last set a bit too easily but if he was struggling physically - fair enough. Nalbandian is a rock.
Overall - Dana is correct
And enjoy yourself on Saturday!!!
It's unfortunate that Andy and Richie are out!

I forgot to mention the score, thanks
I agree, the drop shorts were amazing but it really got annoying after a while. And yes, it was the first time he took a set off him. Rich played his best, exept for the last set, which was a huge disappointment.
Thank you
I'll be making sure to put a lot of pics on here. It'll be my first Grand Slam so I'm really happy.

I saw a bit of the second and most of the third sets - and well it's the first time i've ever seen Richie play - and he was fantastic!!!!
=D> =D> I think he's gonna do really well in the future - some of his shots were just amazing! =D>

I wouldn't exactly say he's 'so hot' - but he's definitely cute
I didn't see the end - but seeing the last set score, it's dissapointing considering how well i saw him play!

He just crashed in every way... I blame the crowd, they were far too loud
He is hot, Annie, don't get me all worked up

If at first you don't succeed, you fail.

I know I'm paranoid. But am I paranoid enough?

I like Gasquet, but I've got money on Nalbandian to win the whole thing, at 26-1. Now he's in round 3, he's down to 17-1, I see. When he makes the semis, he'll be about 5-1. So that's quite a good bet, methinks.

Great game, I thought Gasquet was brilliant at times.
When you think there's him AND Monfils, the same age at nearly the same level,(just one year ahead of Andy) doesn't it make you wonder why only he (away from the LTA) has a hope of the same career in this country?
I refuse to believe we haven't the talent. But we sure need some radical rethinking on how we treat that raw talent.
