I'm starting to dislike Federer

Reply

For Madhatter of Bristol - Malmesbury now although I spent quite few years in Bristol at Uni and after!

I have not really got to grips with the rules for the Race to London so you have helped a lot. I try to go with my daughter (a Novak fan) each year to watch tennis but have never got to see AM. Seen Djokovic every time and seen him lose to Tipsy and Delpo (at Olympics). Watched the Fed/Andy match from O2 on the television and was appalled by the crowd behaviour so did not want to see him nor his sycophantic ill mannered supporters.

What is it about Federer that makes him so dislikable?

Pity? ...Wink
This thread was started in January 2009. Time for a title change surely? We're not "starting to" dislike him anymore. lol
How about " it's really difficult to feel sorry for Federer"?

Media fawning, fake personality, arrogance.

For me personally it's the godlike worship from what seems like a large portion of his fanbase, as well as the sycophantic media. The way that anything dislikeable he does is swept under the carpet and we're meant to pretend it never happened whilst we're told just how amazing he is. He can do no wrong.

I never really had much of a problem with him personally until his actions in his Aussie Open and Wimbledon losses this year.

Ah cool. I need to update my location really - live in Swindon, but spent last couple of years at university in Bristol.

It was the Wimbledon final with Roddick that opened my eyes. After his preposterous entrance, I really wanted him to be hammered. Unfortunately, he probably knew the chances of that were remote. In some ways, that just made it worse.

My suggestion for a new title was "what makes Federer so dislikable ?" - for me it's the patronising "I am God" attitude, and never giving credit to anyone else's achievements. I think he is really going to struggle with not being the center of attention. Has he formally congratulated Mr M yet?

I agree. We've had a lot of fun, time to move on.

Fed could be around for a while, so let's enjoy having a go when we can.  Also if Fed goes PF will go too. Frown    And talking of PF maybe he could come up with a title for this thread!

Or maybe turn the title into a more PF style "I am starting the dislikings of Federer"

Federer chokes the match away. Thank God Murray didn't do this after Djokovic's return in the same style at 40-15.
