Why did I not think about MTF .... I only poke around in there very occasionally.  Thanks Yamor.

What's the matter with Gonzo, Yamor - do you know?

He has a knee injury, but should be back for RG.

Hmmm - quite a few players out.  Understand Del Potro is likely to be out of action for a lengthy period after having surgery on his wrist.  Bit unfortunate for him but good from Andy's point of view.

Thanks Yamor.  Now that you mention his knee, I do recall him saying something about it recently.  Hope he is not gone too long - Gonzo is one of my favourites - along with del Potro.  But may have to wait a while to see the latter once more.

According to a BBC sport's report Del Potro could be out for several months.

but maybe he can't even defend his US Open's title.

You're right - maybe he wont be able to defend his title, I'm just hoping that he will.

Agassi had a similar injury and subsequent surgery, but I don't know how long he was out for.  Maybe Yamor will know - he's great with that kind of info ...

The way I read this, it almost looks like he had surgery in the December and then came back to play in February.  Could that possibly be right?  Doesn't seem very long.

Among leading tennis players, Andre Agassi, Kim Clijsters and Venus Williams have recovered from wrist surgery and resumed winning. The right-handed del Potro, who plays with a two-handed backhand, said that his problem was with a tendon in his right wrist.

From the details I'd have said it was very surprising - but then I'm not a doctor so maybe it wasn't as bad as it sounds, and if he had extensive physio afterwards and wore some sort of wrist support, then perhaps he was able to play again very quickly.

Could be wrong - and I've no doubt MW's great political and tennis pundit Yamor will keep me right Smile - but I'm sure Kim Clijsters was out for a year with a wrist problem.  Reckon Andy was quite lucky to be out for only 4 months in 2007 after the damage done to his wrist.
