Incredible.  Nadal has won 3 consecutive MS clay titles and remain unbeaten on 15-0 clay streak this year.
I thought he may have suffered 'burn out'.  I wonder what he does, mentally, to keep this up?  His knees posed a problem, but it doesn't seem to matter what obstables stand in his way - he just gets out there and achieves.  Very impressive.  yes   Can only hope that Andy's attitude of 'I'll do it my way' also, ultimately, pays dividends.

Interesting. I didn't know that Ion Tiriac can speak Spanish (at the end ceremony in Madrid)

I am also surprised that Nadal only won a dish (same size as the runner up dish) and not a proper trophy.

I doubt it's the 'dish' that matters too much.  More the achievement.

Yea, but there could have been a trophy for the winner, with all the money the tournament makes!
Well done Rafa, knew he could do it!!! Yey!

Oh my ....  I just this second caught up with this off the recording .... poor Federer - an air shot!

Great for Nadal .... covered in dirt and still got his swagger.  Roland Garros here they come!

AWESOME win for Rafa. Really beyond happy because a) he beat Federer and now their H2H is 14-7, b) three clay masters in a row is something he's never previously achieved, c) he beats Agassi's record, and d) he did it in front of his home crowd.

Funny how all the Andy Murray fans like to see Federer get beaten. I a one and glad to see Rafa win.
I found the Federer fresh air shot wierd, still not sure what happened.

I, for one used to be a big Fed fan until his humility let him down.  Not just due to Andy, just because he became so smug.  Yes, he has reason to be smug, he is one of the all time greatest.  But that should be enough, without rubbing people's nose in it, and without crying crocodile tears when you lose a final.  Silly sod!

http://www.atpworldtour.com/News/Tennis/2010/05/19/Madrid-Sunday-Nadal-Wins-18th-Masters-1000-Trophy.aspx

During the end of ceremony interview, I remember Federer saying something along the line.  "Thank you to the organiser for supporting this event.  For the fair play award which Federer and Nadal lead or won.  Federer hopes that he will therefore inspire the younger generation accordingly (with his fair play)."

I feel that that this is not something you would normally say.  It is alright when someone else praises Federer for his fair play but he shouldn't really be blowing his own trumpet.

Can someone who has a recording of the match confirm or deny what I thought I heard from Federer ?  Thanks.
