Steve Tignor of Tennis.com reviewed the best matches of 2009 and came up with a top ten. Interestingly, there are no Murray matches in there.

10 - Melanie Oudin vs Maria Sharapova - United States Open R32
9 - Taylor Dent vs Ivan Navarro - United States Open R64
8 - Radek Stepanek vs Ivo Karlovic - Davis Cup SF
7 - Rafael Nadal vs Roger Federer - Australian Open F
6 - Serena Williams vs Elena Dementieva - Wimbledon SF
5 - Juan Martin Del Potro vs Roger Federer - United States Open F
4 - Fernando Gonzalez vs Richard Gasquet - Australian Open R32
3 - Rafael Nadal vs Novak Djokovic - Madrid SF
2 - Roger Federer vs Andy Roddick - Wimbledon F
1 - Rafael Nadal vs Fernando Verdasco - Australian Open SF

Personally speaking, the Wimbledon final wouldn't be in my top 200. The scoreline was interesting but the tennis was dire.

Surprised there isn't a place for Murray v Wawrinka in there, even if it's just for the atmosphere around Centre that night. Think

Regarding the Wimby final, it probably gets in there because it's Federer and it's a Slam Rolling Eyes

You can see the US influence - Taylor Dent, for God's sake.

The mind doubts, but the heart never does.

Murray vs Wawrinka would be in my top ten, but then again, I'm terribly biased.

This is so stupid, why don't they do single sex reviews?? Sorry to get all feministic on you but what the girls aren't good enough to get their own list?? God!
And also, what, this guy has watched every single tennis match this year?? It simply isn't possible and frankly he's mistaken because I played a brilliant one set thriller in June of this year, god, Wimbledon casts such a shadow on poxy, pointless and poor quality school matches!!

And how tennis is so cruel, no doubles matches! The best match I've EVER watched (and yes 16 years doesn't carry the greatest weight but still) was a doubles match! Pah....

Was there a similar list for 2008? Surely the match with old Dicky was on it?

Federer V Roddick is very overrated imo. I was buzzing afterwards of course but at the end of the day, there was no real class moments, it was just whoever lost serve first.

I am suprised Oudin-Jankovic Wimbledon and S Williams-Clijsters USO isn't there tbh if they are doing women's match as well.

Was it really? Or did it just seem that way because a match with Andy Roddick on blistering form is usually going to have boring tennis.

I assume the reason it's in there is because the tennis might have been boring but people still couldn't believe their eyes, they were gripped to the TV and based on that, I think it probably deserves a place.
