Federer: "I didn't beat Rafa or Novak but I can only control how I play."

This guy's hypocrisy knows no limits. Wasn't this the same Federer that totally devalued Andy's Asian swing success one year by saying it's not really that much of an achievment because he or Novak weren't there?

Edit**

Ah yes he did,

“I’m not taking anything away from what he did but was Asia the strongest this year?” he said. “I’m not sure. Novak wasn’t there, I wasn’t there and Rafa lost early. But it has been a good effort by him after losing to Kevin Anderson in Montreal.”
lol  I remember Fed saying that.

Of course Fed's not a "servebot!" Took that as a tongue in cheek remark anyway. But without doubt it's his serve that's keeping him in matches, as against Nole at Wimbles, and when it goes off, eg second set against Ferrer, he's in trouble these days.
A bit like Andy....sigh.

A counter puncher like Andy always fights back.

Of course my remark about Fed being a servebot aimed at his being able to serve himself out of difficulties. This way he could fend off numerous BP and did not give David many chances of a rally. In so far it was also boring and reminded me of the dark S&V times at Wimbledon. But others might like Federer's "majestic floating over the court" when approaching the net.

I know I'm paranoid. But am I paranoid enough?

Ask Nadal if Fed is a servebot. In his book, he says Fed's serve was the only thing keeping him in the 08 Wimbledon final. Rafa says Federer's nerve had completely gone on his groundshots.

Saying that, Federer did hit the gutsiest shot I've ever seen in that match - that backhand DTL passing shot into the corner when match point down in the fourth-set tiebreak.

So, conspiracy theorists (Gnome and others), that's another 2,000 points he's not defending. 4,000 altogether.

It must be a very cunning plan he's got...!

It seems Nadal could even be out for the rest of the season.

Thanks for the name check, but i also said that he might genuinely be injured. That's the problem with Rafa, you just never know. I've seen some dubious coincidences during his career. I remember once in the AO he was being beaten quite easily by Andy and then all of a sudden his knees were hurting. The whole reason for this years suspicion was due to his early loss at Wimbledon in 2012 he went AWOL for 7 months, and some are adamant that he will do the same again now.

With regards to points, i don't think he's too concerned with losing that amount at all, he might do a 2013 and come back and win everything, it's not like he has anything to prove anymore with being number 1.

I was watching a Wawrinka match last week and when he went to change his racquet I noticed the plastic bag covers now have #stantastic written on them. I thought Federer with the RF was bad enough. Stan now has Stan the Man on his trainers and t-shirts. I've also seen Stanimal on t-shirts. He's beginning to make Federer seem rather humble.

Don't you be talking about my Stanimal that way, Iona. whip

He was extremely gracious to all the people (ahem.. women) who were begging for his autograph at the Rogers Cup after his practice session. Signed for everyone.

Including mine.  wub

My most humble apologies. Smile He does seem like an ok guy but I think the whole 'Stan the Man' stuff is a bit ott.

Andy is fast becoming the only guy that doesn't have his name on his shoes.
