I very much doubt this thread will get as much interest as the Roland Garros one but still worth a thread I think. Very Happy

Murray has confirmed he will be playing.

Seeds:

1 Murray
2 Tsonga
3 Tipsarevic
4 Simon
5 Lopez
6 Cilic
7 Roddick
8 Benneateau
9 Anderson
10 Nalbandian
11 Baghdatis
12 Istomin
13 Bogomolov Jr
14 Muller
15 Soeda
16 Karlovic

Qualifying started today, with five Brits in action. Eaton and Fitzpatrick (courtesy of retirement) both are in QR2.

NB: Eaton and Fitzpatrick both got knocked out in two close sets.

Also a challenger event in Nottingham this week (the second week running).

British interest in R1:

Murray has a bye.

Ward takes on Anderson (9).
Broady takes on Muller (14)
Baker and Golding play each other, with the winner facing Tsonga (2).

Just looking at that list its amazing how few of the top players are playing. Delpo is injured but where are the likes of Joker, Nadal, Berdych, Ferrer, Almagro, Raonic etc etc. Are they all playing at Halle? I guess Joker and Nadal may skip it since they will be knackered but correct me if Im wrong but there isnt exactly a lot of pre-wimbledon grass court tournies anywhere.

Nadal, Berdych and Raonic are entered in Halle. Novak's not playing a warmup tournament before Wimbledon, don't think Ferrer is either.

It's a shame Delpo is injured, but if it all goes according to seedings then a Murray/Tsonga final should be good value.

Nadal was confirmed a few months ago that he's playing Halle instead of Queens this year. Berdych always plays Halle I believe. I don't think Djokovic, Ferrer or Almagro really play in either of the tournaments usually, could be wrong though. Not a clue on Raonic, guess he must be playing Halle.

Yes Nadal said he'd play Halle because UK charges too much tax (have to pay on sponsorship as well as prize money). Halle also pays more prize money  (and appearance fees?)

Djoko didn't play either last year.

Draws for both tournaments now on ATP website

Jeez yeah I remember reading about that now last year. What a pathetic reason for a multi-millionaire to give. Im surprised he bothers to play Wimbledon.

Play been completely rained off so far. At least the Baker/Golding match shouldn't clash with the England/France match now I guess.

Although the weather is completely fine here in sunny Swindon, only a couple of hours away from London. Hopefully it clears up soon..

Edit: The weather is no longer completely fine in sunny Swindon.

it was actually going to cost him money to play. Don't quite see what is pathetic about putting your foot down. I'm sure it forced politicians to re address the situation.
