Davis Cup 2015

Caught that. Was unexpectedly excellent. Much better than Eurosport's French Open and US Open reviews, which showed the winners celebrating before they'd shown the action. Clueless TV station.

Anyone going to Birmingham?

Me too, but it was interesting to hear what Leon had to say as well, particularly about the problems of choosing a second singles player, although I think he got it right about Kyle, i.e. he has the talent but needs to get himself a lot fitter, preferably in time for the AO, so hopefully his trip to Dubai with Andy proved fruitful in that respect.

Those were interesting comments. He was really quite critical of Kyle's fitness. Reminded me of the comments Fed made when players were dropping like flies during the US Open, saying they have to look closely at their conditioning and understand what it takes.

It does all make me wonder if the difference between the top guys and the journeymen isn't just supreme fitness?

I do think that fitness has a lot to do with it, but doubt it's the sole reason, although Andy has always put a lot of emphasis on it.

I got the impression though that Leon regretted his decision to pick Kyle because the bottom line is that Kyle should have won that third set when he had Goffin rattled and all the momentum going his way and not faded like he did.  Let's face it, you don't expect pro players to collapse physically after only two sets!  However maybe the lad needed to be taught a lesson.  He was in Dubai with Andy and Leon, so as Matt Little was presumably there as well, hopefully he might have had some conditioning dinned into him.

A very nice paragraph in here about Andy and the Davis Cup.
