It's possible Raonic wasn't as focused here because of his last loss to Federer. Sometimes some people take more time to recover than others even when given different situations. Then there was the wind.

Going back to Federer now, so I guess he hasn't pulled out yet?

Just said on sky Smug Fed might not play, on Pain killers and sore after Madrid!!!!!
Serves him right for saying that the other players were making a mountain out of a molehill about the slippery clay.

Going back to Federer now, so I guess he hasn't pulled out yet?
No mention as yet on the tournament website.  Probably waiting to see what he feels like tomorrow.

Kohly always plays out of his skin when I watch him. One unforced error...

In my defence, I stopped watching after the second set.

Night match ticket holders might be a tad disappointed ATM - 22 minutes gone and 1st set over Eyebrow raise.

So Monfils and F Lopez the seeded casualities on Tuesday.

Fed gets the day match and Nadal the night match.

I guess the Italian crowd won't be supporting the Argentine as much in the Fed match as the Swiss don't pick fights with anyone grouphug

Updates of the day:

Freddie made a quick work on Berlocq 6-3, 6-4.

Dpot took the 1st set and now serving for the match.

Birdman is down a break in the first to Kubot.

Almagro is cruising in the 2nd - won the 1st.

Apart from the Simon-Garcia match, all others were boring and one sided. Dull day for tennis for sure.

Glad that Simon won - when I last looked at the livescores he was a break down in the third. He's so good at coming back from situations like that though.

Just caught the end of the Seppi-Isner match. Fantastic atmosphere with the crowd all chanting Seppi's name - nice for them to have a home player through to the next round.

The crowd's much better here than Madrid, isn't it? Though during Andy's match I must admit, the cheering was making me, as MH would say, sick.

Also, now I can see the night and day difference between the two courts. Players are easily sliding and gliding on this surface, whereas it felt totally different and dangerous on the blue stuff just the other week. It just played like fast hard surface with some strange blue stuff on it.
