Raonic and Mayer into 1st set tie-break.
Only 4 aces from Raonic so far, and Mayer has won 11 points on the Raonic serve!

I was looking forward to a potential Raonic/Rafa second round - hope Milos can beat Mayer now.

Mayer about to serve for the match...
....And he serves it out for a 7-6(5) 6-4 victory.

Courage isn't absence of fear but mastery of it.

Shame about Raonic - I was really looking forward to a match with Nadal, although I'm sure Nadal would have won. At least it proves one thing I've said all along - if Raonic's serve is misfiring, he's very vulnerable.

Yes I was looking forward to that as well, particularly if Raonic was on form as he was against Andy and Fed.
Also a shame that some of these early matches don't get coverage.

Unfortunately there seems to be some sort of myth that R1 matches aren't worth watching. Luckily for me tennisTV gets going tomorrow.

Milos Raonic lost to F.Mayer yesterday in Rome. It would seem that the conditions don't favour the power boys. This will I hope help Andy, also he hasn't got to adapt to the different conditions from in Madrid.

I know I'm paranoid. But am I paranoid enough?

I'm trying to find out when next year's Italian Open tennis tournament will be held so we can plan our trip around, but I'm not having any luck online. Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks..

Well just looking at my tennis coverage today, and I have 11 hours if I so wished to watch. They don't have this much for some slams

Tennis tv coverage started today.
Haven't seen much but it's very windy apparently, and Dolgo is struggling against Verdasco.
