Missed the match but really sorry Nadal lost.  Somebody will surely stop Djoko at RG - won't they? pray  He's going to become utterly insufferable otherwise.

WHAT THE PLAYERS SAID [ATP website, 15 May]

Djokovic: “He is the king of clay and he is the best player ever to play on this surface. I have won against him twice in the last eight days which I think is incredible, an incredible achievement for me, and he has given me a lot of confidence for the French Open. This is only a couple of tournaments this year and he has since been dominant on this surface for so many, many years.”

“I am most happy about the game this year on clay. The way I was fighting all the way, I am confident and aware and [have] self-belief that I can win against the top players.”

“It is an incredible honour to be part of the history in some ways and part of the elite of players like Federer and Nadal and McEnroe and Lendl and those players who have won many matches in a row.”

Nadal: “My level felt much better today than it did in Madrid. I was able to go inside the court and move well and to play more aggressive, and I think I did. I am not disappointed about my match and I am not sad tonight. We will try next time.”

“I have been doing everything that I can so I cannot ask myself more. I am trying and I am doing very well, but one player is doing better than me. The champion in my opinion is not only be able to win every week; it is when they are able to wait at the right moments and I am waiting at every week, trying to find solutions, and we will see what is going on next time… I wish him all the best and I have to wait my moment to win another time.”

Why? Heard he left  his family, don't like that kind of people.

Perhaps your being a little short sighted "What" - i'm not about to start condemning wawa, just because he left his baby and wife, we don't know the ins and outs of this decision. so to say you "don't like that kind of people"? Thats a bit harsh don't you think? non of us know him personally, so we have no value to him or his life, and as such affords us nothing when trying to make inferences about his life. confused

Just looking a little more closely at the pharmaceutical issue. The Internet is full of implications that the Djoker's withdrawal from Monte Carlo at the last minute was down to a massive scaling up of doping tests. Lots of people are also pointing to his increased energy and stamina in long matches.

I'm not saying he's up to anything, but it is a very strange - and sudden - turnaround in someone who once specialised in looking knackered all the time. The official line is that he's now gluten-free, by the way.

It wasn't meant to sound so harsh. You're right, that we don't know what exactly happened, but the story of leaving him for tennis is prety strong. In the end, as I said, it wasn't meant so sound harsh. I'm not saying I hate Wawa, don't now the gay, I just don't like him, his appearance and behavor on the court etc.

You mean like Federer. I think that he is well on the way. Witness his celebrations at the end of the match, before going forward to shake hands with Nadal.

Players don't just get tested at tournaments but at random times as well, and I think they need to account for quite a lot of their time well in advance, so that the authorities know when they are available for unscheduled testing.  Tennis has had its fair share in the last few years, but the chances of getting away with it are pretty slim.  Nole's turnaround is down to many things, but drugs is definitely not one of them.  The only thing surprising about his run is his ability to consistently beat Nadal, something which even the mighty fed could not manage in his prime.  I still fancy Nadal for RG, as Nole did seem to be struggling physically towards the end of Rome, especially against Andy, and even earlier in the match v Nadal.  I seriously doubt he will manage to win RG, but it has been a mind-blowing year for him so far.
