If at first you don't succeed, you fail.

but there always is 1 person who looks at a guy and goes: hey... i figured him out!) and then the dominant person starts to lose to that person and then to everyone else after they lose a fair amount of confidence... i can't wait until that happens to fed.

You're right it will happen. But I really don't think it'll be for a couple of years. He may lose a couple of matches but nothing that'll significantly dent his points total. not for a few years anyhow. You never know, he may retire shortly. Get bord of winning.

the defeat or the retirement? I think the retirement could be our best shot guys. I mean if he gets that unbeatable surely he'll get bored?

He's swiss! It;s like the watches, they never break. Or tell the wrong time. Neither does federer (cause he probably owns a swiss watch). And as for his tennis, well he always seems so enthusiastic. I want someone to beat him i really do, but it;s just not gonna happen within the next 2 years.

I totally agree with you. It'd just be better for the game if someone would just beat him more consistantly. Like I've said before on this site i'm in two minds about the guy because it really frustrates me that he seems to be so much better than everyone out there and that the game is made more boring because of him but I love to watch him play. He just hits the best shots sometimes and he looks good when he plays. It's so clever and effortless. It's annoying!!!

Federer wil prob be at the top for as long as Federer wants to be at the top, as soon as that enthusiasm drops ( which it will) he will start yo lose, afterall everybody gets complacent in the careers, and winning everything leads to people dropping the ball look at Michael Schumacher and Ferrari in F1 for a big examply

yeah that's probably the best point. Until that time though the only thing capable of beating federer is a brick wall

I think its very unfair to say fed has no rivals. It seems that way, but it's just that Fed is more dominant than Sampras was. I mean Sampras let quite a few slams slip, so his opponents got credit. Fed wins nearly every slam (minus the french, but he could win that too), I mean if Fed wasn't around - Roddick would have 3 wimbledons in a row (and people would be hailing him the next sampras). Hewitt would also have quite a few.

I also dont get what sampras was saying about a big serving serve-volleyer. Fed has no trouble with power players (like Roddick) and has great passing shots - I dont see how that sort of player would trouble him - only Nadal causes him major trouble. I presume Sampras meant a player like himself, but I actually feel that the superb shot-making of a peak fed vs a peak sampras could only end in a straight sets win for Fed. That's not taking anything away from Sampras, I mean Laver would probably get double bageled by any of todays players, but it's the achievment in their own era that counts.

Sampras was a great player, I really respect him - but i dont see what he's getting at.
