Courage isn't absence of fear but mastery of it.

I lost the only grandfather I knew, 10 days after I'd had my son - talk about mixed emotions.
As for Nole, the fact that he missed his grandfather's funeral and the opportunity to say goodbye then, imo, wouldn't have helped. I'm surprised that arrangements weren't delayed until he could attend.
That must have been really difficult Bev.
As the Djokovic family are presumably members of the Eastern Orthodox Church, then that explains the speed of his burial -
"Traditional funeral custom for Eastern Orthodox Churches consists of holding a funeral service in the Church three days after the death occurred ..."
http://www.funeralhomeresource.com/article/funeral-and-religious-customs-of-eastern-orthodox-churches.html
Nole was told about the death on the Thursday morning, but it's likely his grandfather could have died the previous day, so that would account for Saturday being the day of the funeral. Don't quite understand myself why he didn't head off home immediately, but the shock of the death of a loved one, particularly if it was unexpected, can do strange things to the mind. Perhaps he was in a state of denial?

Aww.. sorry Bev about your grandfather, especially at such an emotional time. My son only has my mum as his grandma... The rest passed before his time (all very young.)
I`m also surprised the funeral wasn`t delayed. Religious custom maybe.. I dunnno.
(Just read Aileen`s comment.. makes sense now)

It was a difficult time and he died on the date my son was due - he was induced as there were problems that have since resolved themselves. At least he knew that he was born but he just didn't get a chance to see him (they lived on the East coast).
We did spend a week with my grandparents about 2 months before my son was born so I treasure those memories.
The details regarding the burial explain a lot Aileen. It must have been a tough decision for Nole to continue. I'm sure each of us would have our own reasons for staying or going.

Feliciano put up a fairly good fight against Ferrer still lost though. Would have loved a fight between Andy and Ferrer tomorrow, had Andy survived today. Oh well.
Looking forward to Verdasco vs Nishi match. Leaning towards Nishi. Verdasco is so yesterday...

It's just not my day today though I am only gutted for Andy.
Looking forward to Ferrer spanking Raonic's bottom tomorrow. If not Ferrer than Rafa will have to do it.

He does seem to be a bit injury prone unfortunately. Hope it's nothing serious.

Brilliant 2nd set from Ferrer and Raonic! Great match and good to see Ferrer go through to the final again.

Just looked at Anabel Crofts twitter and see how she was frothing at the mouth at how in her words and I quote "Raonic dismantling Murray is significant".
Pathetic.

Dismantling? Maybe she got confused with the Nadal/Tipsy match!

Really pleased that David won today.
Rafa is beating Verdasco easily in the second semi.

Normally loose heart with tournies when Andy goes out and dont really sit and watch a game in the same way. But was interested after yesterday to see how Raonic and ferrer went. Was very surprised at just how effective ferrers game was and I can now see how behind the game Andy is on clay doesn't have the movement. Have decided I need to let go of the Andy obsession and just enjoy the tennis. Will still be yelling at Andy when he plays though, he's still the best (guess its going to be harder than I thought to let go!)
