No, he should definitely play RG. He's not going to meet with Nadal until the final anyway and there are 3 good players who can take him out even before he gets there.
Nadal has only 1 and that's Nole himself.
Federer too has 3 players who can take him out of RG and as to Andy,
I'd say at least 3 to 5 players who pose enormous danger to him on clay.
Given the last two tournaments I'd say it's a higher number than that.

While I don't think Andy will give his all at RG, I do think he will take it far more seriously than MC, Barcelona and all other clay tournaments this season. You do agree with that, no?

Of course. But whether he's taking it seriously or not, he's been outplayed by both Berdych and Raonic in successive tournaments (and even Benneteau was dominating points against him). I think there's a big number of players who pose a big threat to him if he's not on his game.

Andy is still the better player and there's a reason behind it. Berdych isn't as consistent as Andy and Raonic is still not as experienced. Andy and Berdych are 1-1 this year so far and Andy has only met with Raonic once so far, so that's not at all enough for me to draw any conclusion.
They both have to play their best and Andy hasn't in both matches.

I saw this article in the paper this morning. Tennis star Andy tells how shock defeat in the US left him sobbing alone in a hotel.
He admitted yesterday it was one of the lowest points in his career and he even began to doubt if he could go on. ' I was gutted. I did'nt know what to do. But Andy showed his determination by getting back out on the court the very next day. Then I got back to Monte Carlo and startrd playing well again.

Watched the Ferrer/Nadal Final yesterday..... now THAT's how you play on clay!
So close... too bad for Ferrer.
I don't know what's worse... being an Andy supporter or a Daveed supporter.

I wanted Daveed to win and he almost did. I think Nadal is brilliant on clay. He can be beaten on hard courts and grass. In Japan on hard court last year Andy demolished winning 6-0 and 6-1 I think so he can be beaten. He is not super human as most people think .

Apart from Andy, David is my favorite player even though my GF fancies him like mad.

Yes, that was mentioned in the interview with David Frost. It was after his defeat by Bogomolov in Miami. I can imagine how desolate and dispirited he felt.

I love wee Daveed ...
Really, really wanted him to beat Nadal. He's such a gutsy little fighter but sadly in this match his belief that he could win deserted him in the 1st set tiebreak and the end of the 2nd set - hardly surprising as their H2H was 14-4. So sad.
Unfortunately he's just turned 30, but I hope he isn't thinking of retiring any time soon.

Thanks Linda. Think I'll open a thread for madrid MS - other players. A lot of folk like myself do follow other players and like to comment on their matches.

Thanks Robbie
I know that I'll not be paying for my coverage but not very good for other tennis lovers that don't have internet access. I wonder how their No.1 tennis player feels about that?
