I don't think Murray or Djokovic have slipped at all, I think Nadal has now actually taken things up yet another level; just as Djokovic did in 2011. Being completely fit now and with his more aggressive style it's the most formidable tennis there's ever been.

Murray and Djokovic will have to find ways to improve and play catch-up again and Nadal will probably keep winning everything until they do.

Suppose congrats to dal and his fans are in order. But am dissappointed in Novaks mental frailty he used to be so tough ( suppose Andy might have a role to play in that :p) but still sad to see.

Im under no illusion Andy would have beaten rafa but I do think andy has more self belief than Nole and when he had his man down i.ehow novak did in 3rd he may have done a better job with it. whose to say if novak had won 3rd that Rafa woulndt have won 4th and 5th....he probably would have. Looks unstoppable right now.

I know I'm paranoid. But am I paranoid enough?

Well, that's the majors done for 2013 and Nole still hasn't won a slam apart from the Aussie since 2011. Lost the last 3 finals. That has to hurt.

If Murray hadn't been physically and even more emotionally drained from finally beating Federer  in a GS,  I don't think he would have even got that. Murray would have 3 by now.

I'm very pleased for Rafa. He's playing such a high level of tennis right now, and his mentality is rock-solid in the pressure moments. 13 slams now - suddenly Federer's record looks within reach.

Novak showed in the second and part of the third set how he can really trouble Rafa. But he couldn't keep up that level and failing to break at 4-4 0-40 effectively lost him the match. Mentally he's lost the edge he had over Rafa, and seems to have lost some belief in his own tennis too. It'll be interesting to see how he responds - this loss may just force him to raise his level again.

I have to apologise to those who I argued with way back at the start of the year when they claimed Nadal would end the year the as #1. I just didn't forsee Murray and Djokovic slipping as much as they have - not to mention Federer. Really poor years for both of them. 2013 has been a poor year at the top of men's tennis.
I really wouldn't call Andy year a poor year.

I think that's what Nigel is trying to say, that apart from the Aussie open, the other finals he's been in, he's come away empty handed.
