Del P, what a guy - he spoke in Spanish at the end of his acceptance speech and was choked up with tears. Well done son, you deserve it. Just rendered Murray's achievements meaningless.

Woo! Finally the streak is broken! Though Federer will never wilt into obscurity I hope his eventual downfall begins here and now.

Roll on the dodgy headlines! cmon yeah

Fedex trampled by Pony?

Roger tried to shut the door but the horse had already bolted?

Rough ride for Federer in US Open final?

I'm sure there are more, but I feel nauseous already...  Well done DP - stirling effort clap Let's hope it lights a firework under our laddie's arse before he becomes the only player in the top ten without a Slam to his name Rolling Eyes

I wonder if boogers caught his flight Think

A few noteworthy comments fro JMDP's post match interview - these say a lot about his character .....

Quote
Yeah, of course, the crowd, it's so exciting cheering for both players. Very respectful for both players. They made a good show for everyone.

Quote
Of course I will be in the history of this tournament. That's amazing for me. I have new opportunities in the other Grand Slams to win, because if I did here, if I beat Nadal, Federer and many good players, maybe I can do one more time.

But of course, will be difficult, because I was so close to lose today.

Quote
Q. You came this close to almost breaking the racquet after the third set. All of a sudden there seemed to be a new spark in you.

JUAN MARTIN DEL POTRO: Well, I was so nervous. But for respect to me and respect to everyone, I don't do that, because maybe when I feel nervous I saw Roger and he's a gentleman player, you know. We have to learn many things about him. Many times I do that today.

Quote
Q. You always talk so quietly with this soft voice, do you ever shout in your life, in your private life? Do you get angry?

JUAN MARTIN DEL POTRO: Yeah, of course. I was in the locker room...

Q. What did you do?

JUAN MARTIN DEL POTRO: Doing some bad things. I cannot tell you.

Quote
But I did my things. I have respect for what my coach say before the match. That's the reason of my victory.

For me, that quote is it in a nutshell ........ I hope Andy Murray reads that, because, why "keep a dog and bark yourself".

Federer is a disgrace to the sport! Never have I been so disgusted, I almost rang upmy poor quality justin tv stream to complain!

They should have just given the match to DP there and then!

Are you being serious? His complaint was completely legitimate, and I'm one hundred percent in agreement with him. The rule for the challenge system is that it must be made in a reasonable amount of time. Just because he's walking towards the spot and asking the umpire if it was out doesn't mean he should have more time to make the challenge.

just cos he has had a bit of success doesnt make him above the rules. he is an arrogant, big headed prick who needs to be brought back down to earth.

I think it might be fair to say that Federer has had more that "a bit of sucess"
