Yea they get really out of place, sometimes so bad that two strings touch each other so I'm always picking at my racket. Might get it re-strung, how much does it cost on average? Day light robbery this city.

For a tennis racquet with decent string, I would pay about £15-18. Maybe a tab more. I paid £15 for my squash racquet last time. If your strings move about a lot then they are probably quite loose so if you get them tighter then you might lose a bit of power from your game. Up to you though.

Seeing as Mark directed me here earlier, I apparently need a new racquet.  I'm currently getting by on a £20 Wilson Federer-branded one (oversize, best for beginners etc.) that's not completely terrible, but nothing I'm comfortable with progressing with.  On the other hand, I'm not exactly swimming in cash and seeing as I'm still very much a beginner (though improving) I don't want to spend too much on a racquet that won't make a noticeable difference to someone of my level.  I'm thinking in the £50-£100 price range, though obviously on the lower end of the scale if it can be.

So, what's a good beginner/improving racquet?

Babolat NS Tour is my racquet which I've had for about 2 years now.

TCK, if you're looking for a good recreational/improving racquet in the mid price range then I'd go for a Wilson nCode nPower or a Babolat Drive Z Lite. Both pretty light racquets so if you want something heavier then go for cheaper nCode (ie, nFlash or n4.2) as with the nCodes, the difference is basically that as the price goes up, the weight goes down. That's what I'd recommend a customer at our shop anyway. The nCodes are really good racquets at really good prices for the recreational/learning level. I wouldn't get into Wilson K Factor or Babolat Aero stuff until you're a more advanced player.

Hmm, that Babolat Drive Z Lite is looking to be one of my next purchases.  Ever so slightly out of my intended price range, but not by too much.

It is a really nice racquet. It's the one I'm really tempted to buy while I can get a really good discount from working in the shop and before prices go up. But I just don't need a racquet at the moment and am not sure I want to give them back a week's wages!

I'd get one pretty soon if I were you though. May 1st their new range comes out and the prices go up massively.

I've pretty much lost my voice due to my cold but I'm still going to play several hours of tennis this evening, some people are born hardcore!

Here's a question to everyone: What racquet do you use?

I'm thinking of investing in a new one. I currently have the Wilson KFactor KBlade Tour.
