What's your favourite tennis ball?

Reply

There are lots of them out there: Head, Slazenger, Prince, Karakal, Dunlop, Tretorn. What do you think are the best for club tennis and what's your preference?

I know Slazenger seem to be popular in the UK because they are used at Wimbledon but I don't think they are particularly good and they are quite heavy. My favourite are Wilson US Open balls.

Is this secretly the "what tennis ball should I buy next" thread? :P

No, just curious as to how much people care about their balls. Maybe some people think the differences are trivial but I've heard Wilson and Penn (or was it Prince?) are good choices, one of the reasons for that is how long they last.

Any Head/Wilson ones are generally good quality.

I'm talking about durability of course, I'm surprised if any of us are good enough to tell how they affect certain shots.

Yea my dad gets the Slazenger Wimbledon ones, they're good for about 5 games - I swear they're slightly larger in size compared to the Head ones. Think

I guess my balls have only one more game in them.

We use the Wilson US Open balls for interclub but I can't say I play to a standard where I've ever noticed any difference between different brands of tennis balls!
