Reviving this thread, as I'll be joining an indoor tennis centre in Glasgow tomorrow, so will hopefully be playing lots of tennis over the winter months for once. Very Happy

Played there the other day, and wow, it's absolutely incredible the difference playing indoors makes.

Had to shorten my swing a tad as the ball travels so much quicker. My serve also seemed unbreakable at times, when in reality it's an average serve.

Any one else play indoors regularly?

Me and Mark used to until the ridiculous winter fees kicked in (we're talking around £1000 between us for one weekly hour session on top of membership fees), we generally preferred it inside.  The most significant change I found was related to the higher bouncing compared to the outside courts, perhaps that has something to do with your serves being more potent?

That's London prices for you! With my membership, it'll be £4.90 for court hire for an hour, so when you split it between two people, it's a bargain.

Bounce depends mostly on the surface. Indoor courts are generally carpet which plays like grass but even quicker, or hardcourts.

The courts I'll be playing on are just your standard acrylic painted hardcourt. Lower air resistance and drag makes your serve seem much quicker though, brilliant. Very Happy

I enjoyed playing indoors a lot and yes, the balls go faster and an average serve can seem blistering Very Happy

Played indoors once (at Stirling Uni). Really enjoyed it though I did think that it got a bit humid/hot at times. It also took the spin on my serve well. Smile

Joining a David Lloyd centre, Andrew?

Not looking forward to the faster bounce, I prefer playing from the back of the baseline.

Makes no difference when playing Andrew though, easy peasy. yay

No, I'm not made of money like Julia!

It's the Gorbals Tennis Centre, just beside the Clyde river.

Time to start recording the head-to-head. yes

How much was your school education again? Very Happy

Julia, we've played around like what, ten times? :P I think you've beaten me once, that's almost like Murray-Verdasco. Wink

Less than your dad's contributions to your rent, football matches, beer, Xbox etc.

You are also 1 foot taller than me and considerably stronger so I can't get to your serve. Let's not forget this year's Australian Open, can't perform when it matters most. Wink

Bring it on, I'll record a match with Julia and I, you can see if I'm around your level, and we'll make it a date, Henders.

Where abouts you playing at the moment?
