Laura Robson will face Kazak Yulia Putintseva for a place in the second round of the Dubai Tennis Championships. The winner of this match will face third seed and defending champion Agnieszka Radwanska in the second round. Good luck Laura  cmon yeah

What a topsy turvy match that one turned out to be. Putintseva won the first set 6-4. Laura picked up her game and won the second 6-2. In the third she fought off match points to the opponent to get herself back in to the match, only to lose in the tie-break.

The strange thing was that for a lot of the match Laura was the better player. However, her game was pretty error strewn, especially on the forehand.

Disappointing loss, seen as I had full faith she could have given Radwanska a good fight. Oh well.

I think if she had got through today she could well have got into her game and given anyone a fight. It sounds daft to say, but when she wasn't making errors she was playing well, she just couldn't string it together enough.

Thought she was breathing very heavily towards end of match - had just assumed it was the long match - she didn't look herself.  When her forehand is on it's a thing of beauty - when it's off it's very ugly.

I think there is an article on another thread where Laura says that she has had the infection since the Olympics and she is going to see a specialist about it.
