Murray withdraws from Marseille event

By Allan Hendry on February 12, 2010, 01:09 PM
Andy Murray has withdrawn from the ATP Tour event in Marseille.

Having reached the Australian Open final, Murray will take an extra week off to rest his body.

The Scot only returned to training at the beginning of this week and still does not feel physically ready to compete.

With Del Potro having also announced his withdrawal from the tournament, organisers have been dealt a major blow.

Murray is still expected to compete in Dubai starting the 22nd of February.

Fair enough, glad he's taking it easy, rankings don't matter anymore to him and neither should it for us.

Yeah, it's a fair enough decision.

I bet that the tourney committee will be really annoyed, especially after Andy withdrew after winning Rotterdam last year and also the withdrawal of Del Potro.

Although i'm disappointed not to see him in action I think this is a good decision. Why push it this early on! Will look forward to dubai!

He might regret it later in the year when he has to fit another 250 in.
However, I think he really has got his thinking head on this year and is really working for the big ones.
Good on him -  Let's just hope that its not a hidden injury that's caused this - it is a bit last minute !

I was looking forward very much to seeing him play again, so I'm a bit disappointed but I'm glad he's taking a few decisions which are likely to help him through a very busy year. Roll on Dubai.
