Murray through as Kei limps out

By for MurraysWorld.com on
Andy Murray will meet Grigor Dimitrov in the final of the Brisbane International after Kei Nishikori retired with a knee injury. Murray was leading 6-4, 2-0 when his opponent threw in the towel.

Murray made a slow start, spewing errors and slipping to 1-4 down. The Scot began to find his rhythm and won five games on the trot to take the first set.  Nishikori was now clearly in trouble and the Japanese number one called for a medical timeout, before retiring two games later.

Dimitrov, Murray's opponent tomorrow, beat Marcos Baghdatis 6-3, 5-7, 7-6. Murray has met the Bulgarian once before, prevailing in straight sets.

Agreed - an excellent article, though I didn't wake up to watch as I am afflicted with some bug at the moment. Hope I can make the final.

An acurate and measured report, Phil.

Not a lot to talk about really, as it was cut short.
Bring on the final and an Andy who gets into gear much sooner in the 1st set!
I dont like these sloppy starts he has, having to come from behind,  makes me nervous although we should expect it as the norm now.  Rolling Eyes

I don't think we will ever think it as norm, we just have to be on a murraycoaster!

Hope you feel better soon Jan and that it's not that horrible sickness bug I keep reading about.  I'm not planning to make the final given the 4am start though if it's late, I might well wake up naturally anyway.  Just hoping the recording will work.
Haven't been able to see anything of the previous matches as my recordings didn't happen for some reason.
