There is some finally some good news for us 24 fans, it has been revealed that due to the huge gap between season 6 and 7, Fox will air a 2-hour feature film as a prequel to season 7.

The producers of Fox's "24" are developing a two-hour "prequel" to the upcoming seventh season of the real-time thriller.

The movie, designed to bridge the two-year gap between Seasons 6 and 7, is targeted to air in the fall, leading to the show's January return.

"24" was one of the biggest casualties of the writers strike. Three days after the work stoppage began on November 5, Fox decided against airing a partial season of the serialized drama with the eight episodes produced before and during the first weeks of the walkout.

I don't think this is the "much awaited film", I believe it's an additional film they only decided to do due to the writers strike. The film you are referring to will hit the big screen.

This isn't a big deal, its just a TV movie to fill in the gap. This will surely not compare to the movie they want to release for the cinema which I assume will have a much bigger budget.

I'm getting my 24 fix from watching 'The Unit' these days. It has 24's President Palmer as the lead guy and I really like him. The contents of the show is the nearest thing to 24 at the moment, it helps a bit.

With how Prison Break is produced and directed, I would say that gives you the feeling of watching 24 but not in regards to content, obviously.
