That looks like highlighting the immigration problem to me........

Brings up an interesting point actually.

I was watching a cop show the other night, Road/Street Wars or something possibly. Anyway, on this particular episode, they were in London and every single person arrested was a 2nd/3rd generation British Black youth/young adult. So no ethnic minorities here or whatever. Now...... does that make the makers of the program racist, or was it the fact that in this area, out of the crimes committed the majority are committed by black people? What do you think? (I think the area may have been Hammersmith or something, which i believe has a high black population, but I don't know the percentages, so maybe someone else does)

Nope, that's not racist. That road wars thing, highlights a different area each week, and if that's the most offenders that is problem to the same ratio as the population. There is probably episodes with only white offenders within them also.

I actually didn't mean to put illegal, that's just habit because it's been a topic I've been discussing over the past few weeks in politics. I actually just meant to say immigrants. That is the main focus of the Daily Mail...

Yes but we are a country with a majority of white people. You'd expect it to be majority white offenders. However, that episode was almost exclusively blacks and I have to say, in other episodes it's usually about 50% blacks....... Certainly not 50% of the population in every area.....

I've watched episodes of this and I certainly haven't seen 50% being black... Are you saying the programme is racist? Or are you saying blacks commit the most crime, I don't really understand which team your batting for.

Isn't it statistically true that black people are more likely to commit a crime than a white person? But it's probably to do with their social circumstances rather than genetics.

They actually don't, I can't find the statistics but I used to have them, I will find them, ethnic minorities are at risk of crime more than white people though.

These figures are so difficult to track down (governments like to hide them, since they're a bit of a double-edged sword), but

approximately 2% of the black population of the UK are in prison
approximately 0.2% of the white population of the UK are in prison.

Even accepting that there's a bias in the system which means that black offenders are twice as likely to receive custodial sentences that whites, that implies that members of the black population are significantly more likely to be convicted of crime than whites.
[Figures from "Race and the Criminal Justice System", a Home Office publication from 2001 - can't find more recent offhand]

That difference is so high that I don't believe the percentage of black offenders isn't higher than for whites (though I'll look at any stats you have).

BUT, compare how many white people there are in the UK, in comparison to blacks, and if they where the same amount, that 2% would probably even out... wouldn't it?
