are the real match fixers in Paris? « on: November 01, 2007, 07:18:43 PM »

So everyone is slating Nole for picking up half a million bucks for appearing in Paris and playing a rank match
but did it not play right into the Paris organisers hands. Watching the last stand of one of France' past greats
beats the number 3 in the world got the crowd well going.
Judging by the atmosphere last night it was well worth half a million to the French.
Hate to be too paranoid but Nole wasn't out to win that match and even tho the foot was post op
was it not the Paris organisers that woulda been miffed if he didnt play
Pretty much a half a million fix in my view

You think Nole deliberately lost his match so the French would pay him half a million?

I don't think Nole deliberately lost his match.  He probably thought he'd have an easy game and just didn't count on Fabrice playing so well.  Should have done his homework better.  No way did he deliberately lose, he's too competitive for that.

No. I think Nole's knackered after a long hard season. I said in Madrid I thought he looked flat. And Santoro confounded him too. He was good. Nole was probably glad to get the rest before Shanghai and he was probably glad to not have to play Andy under these circumstances. But I don't think he deliberately threw the match.

I don't think he threw the match Mark...In the condition he was in he didn't have to and I think it suited the French for him to play post op and in business things have a way of working themselves out if you know what I mean
