Argentina's Davis Cup captain, Alberto Mancini earlier this week, named the team that will meet Great Britain.

The team consists of their number one David Nalbandian (10), their number four and fives, Juan Monaco (23), Agustin Calleri (41) and Jose Acasuso (63).

Notable absentees are Guillermo Canas, ranked 17, currently out injured with Tendonitis in his left wrist and Juan Ignacio Chela, ranked 20.

On paper, we are favourites. They can count on Andy Murray - a very good, very experienced player.

But clay is not his favourite surface. We're hosts, our fans will be close.

The tie, which starts on February 8th, is currently being discussed on the Argentina v GB thread in our forum.

Well that's not toooo bad.... Andy (when he's not playing idiotly) can beat any of them..... hopefully. Though nalbandian would be hard... has Andy ever beaten him?

But (I'm being very uncharacteristicly optimistic here) the doubles we can win - with Jamie and Andy we have a fairly good chance. Then, the singles.... if Andy plays the way we know he can play, then it's possible for him to win the two singles.... and there we have a win.

I was thinking about this in bed the other night! If it was on Grass or even better indoor fast court, then I would think that we could sneak a 3-2 win. But the fact that it is on clay and that Jamie hasnt played decent tennis for quite a few tournaments now, makes me still worry! Although we do have a very good chance of winning, but it will come down to Andy and Jamie in the Dubs!!!

I don't think Andy has ever had a good win on clay, don't see how he will beat nalbi or pico.

Yeah but if you think about it, Andy's never had a proper proper clay court season. 2006 - he was having a mare coach wise... and nothing was working for him, plus it was his first full season - and without a coach, that must have been hard to try and find his way. Then in 2007 he was injured the whole way through. Plus if you watched it, the match where he actually injured his wrist, he played the first set and was playing absolutely brilliantly... the potential to be a good clay court player (not a great one, but good..) is there, he just hasn't had the chance to develop it properly in tournaments. So he could play well... it would be better if this tie was a it later though after a couple of clay tournaments practice, but he's been back home for a while, so hopefuly he's been practicing hard on his clay court game.

Sorry if that makes little sense, i'm mid writing a philosophy essay, and am therefore in long-winded, philosophical argument writing mode lol

Banannie, I agree that in 2007 he did show signs of being very comfortable on the surface so there is hope.

Think Banannies' philosophival argument has some sense.Andy says he likes playing on Clay,Played a lot on Clay In Spain.I know that doesn't prove much.Don't know how he'll do against Nalbanan,Have they only met once??At Wimbeldon when Andy took him to five sets, before he was in the top hundred. Some things might be highly improbable, but nothing is impossible.Jonas Bjorkmann said playing in Argentina was a nightmare for Sweden.probably be worse for the Brits, they aren't exactly fans of the UK.We can live in hope if whitewashed(I hope not of course)Won't be any worse than any other Davis Cup team who've ha dto go to Argentina.

I've never seen Baker or Boggo play on clay so I don't know how good they are, I'm hoping Argentina underestimate their ability and go out thinking they've won before the match starts, I've seen Baker play some great tennis so I hope that's the boy that turns up on the day.

He can certainly serve. His returns are nothing spectacular. But he has a great work ethic. A bit of confidence would do him the world of good.
