Well i disagree. Why should you get the same number of points for making what is an easier prediction. You have only 4 options for the women's games and 6 for the men's. Regardless of a players predictiing skill, by pure chance, they could get the female matches totally correct, and score similarily in the men's matches as someone else, yet be that extra point ahead, just because the guessed at one in four possible outcomes. I think it should be 2 points as stipulated in the "how to play" topic. Nothing is mentioned about women's/men's matches being scored differently.

The point of the game is how well you can predict the outcome of a match not your chance of a 50/50 or what ever.
We have to be consistent through out a tournament so if we keep this rule for the Australian Open we can obviously adjust it as soon as it's finished.
Then again that's my opinion and i don't individually run RTR so i think it's fair Cate and Andrew get a say on your point.

This is the first time you have introduced a 3 set match along with a 5 set match. The first day indeed. There is no consistency issue at all.
From "How to play: Read-the-Round"
Scoring:
Points are given for correctly predicting the following:
1 point - winner's name.
2 points - winner's name and the number of sets in a 3 set match.
3 points - winner's name and the number of sets in a 5 set match.

correct. But women's matches have less choices, so should- sorry ARE easier to predict.

I agree with Julia. I can see Neil's point, but we are not going to have many women's matches to predict and we should just standardise the points throughout a grand slam.

Let me put it a better way
MurrayMountain91- 65
invisibleman18 - 64
Now let's say that in the next set of matches, they have the same predictions bar one. That one is "Female x wins in 2 (for alex) and in 3( for tommy)"
Now, say that female x wins in 2 is tthe result. Alex gets 3 points, Tommy gets 1. So with the rest of the predictions the same, Alex takes the lead on a 50/50 choice. In comparison with getting 2 points, where they would be tying. The only reason you can justify having 3 points at all is in a 5 set match which only occurs during the GS's.
On a side note: Should we include women's matches in the future, that are one set, they should only be worth one point.
Your skill of predicting a match outcome should be the same for the men and women and if the men play one set, that;s the same as pickign a winner for the guys. If you agree with this, then it DIRECTLY FOLLOWS that a 3 set women's match should get the same points as a 3 set men's match (i.e. 2) and a 5 setter gets 3 points.

I said I understand what you are saying, but we are giving people the chance to earn either 15 or 12 potential points each day, so we will maintain the 3 point rule for Grandslams despite the number of sets. There is no point keep on arguing the same thing Neil, we understand what you are saying. I wonder what Andrew thinks?
Well Julia and I have already stated our reasoning.
