TENNIS great Boris Becker has warned rising star Andrew Murray not to get carried away by the hype surrounding his success.

The former Wimbledon champion urged Murray to avoid getting mixed up in the kind of scandals which have plagued him in recent years.

Becker, who shot to fame when he won Wimbledon at just 17, claims his life was almost ruined by the media.

After he retired from the sport, his personal problems culminated in a messy divorce from his wife Barbara and a prosecution from the German authorities who accused him of tax evasion.

Becker said:

If I had known what lay in store after my Wimbledon victory in 1985, perhaps I wouldn't have wanted to win that final.

If I could give one piece of advice to a young player such as Andy Murray, it would be: don't believe what they say about you in the papers.

Instead, put your trust in your family, your friends, your coach and, if you believe, in God.

I coudn't agree more with Boris - Murray should completely ignore what the press have to say as they are capable of destroying people's careers.

Of course that doesn't mean you can't come to MurraysWorld, we'll give you an honest unbiased opinion, just look at what Shallowville come up with sometimes icon_angel_not

I think the press are very crafty, they are your best friend when you are successful and when you fail or under-perform.- they are the first to criticise. It is vital that Andy (tries to) maintain a healthy relationship with the media as they can turn opinions. Of course, I will judge him on his abillity on-court, but you like someone who has a warm personality.

All "press-relationships" are a lie...
We've seen what Tim's been put through, as the only British hope..
And now Im really scared that Andy might fall into that same trap! He does need to keep well clear and mind what information gets out. And the press critisizing earlier of his image! Made me fume!!! =; The press need to learn how to behave!! Very Happy

Hopefully Queen Judy has got everything under control! O:)
