TENNIS great Boris Becker has warned rising star Andrew Murray not to get carried away by the hype surrounding his success.
The former Wimbledon champion urged Murray to avoid getting mixed up in the kind of scandals which have plagued him in recent years.
Becker, who shot to fame when he won Wimbledon at just 17, claims his life was almost ruined by the media.
After he retired from the sport, his personal problems culminated in a messy divorce from his wife Barbara and a prosecution from the German authorities who accused him of tax evasion.
Becker said:
If I had known what lay in store after my Wimbledon victory in 1985, perhaps I wouldn't have wanted to win that final.
If I could give one piece of advice to a young player such as Andy Murray, it would be: don't believe what they say about you in the papers.
Instead, put your trust in your family, your friends, your coach and, if you believe, in God.
