Brad confirmed as Murray's new coach « on: July 16, 2006, 01:02:36 AM »

Andy Murray's future will take a vital step forward in Eastbourne this week when American Brad Gilbert is unveiled as his new coach in a ground-breaking 500,000 pound deal.

Gilbert will spend at least 30 weeks a year on the road with Murray, who has been without a coach since he fired Mark Petchey three months ago.
Great news and a major step forward for Andy's career. Hope he takes on everything Brad says and accepts that Brad knows best.- Sir Panda (mw member)
And in an attempt to appease such critics as John Lloyd and John McEnroe, who questioned whether the LTA should be paying for Gilbert to coach Murray when the young Scot is already a wealthy man, the American will also be expected to give clinics to other players and coaches.

Finally!! clap  Been waiting for this to happen for some while now. I hope Andy's understood that he needs a coach otherwise it's the same old story to be honest. Brad should have a lot of experience - and his work with Roddick proved to be grand slam worthy. I hope he can produce the same magic along side Murray.  clap clap

Really pleased hope it all works out well They said he would even get Roddicks breakfast bagel, as Andy is a teenage,r it might be a bigger challenge to get him out of bed.Hope also it's a good move for British tennis.Looks like it could be interesting times.

There's a story in the Telegraph today. They say there might even be an announcement today. I'm still dissapointed he didn't go for Darren Cahill but we'll wait and see what happens. If BG can do the job then I won't be complaining.
