He should be doing better. Hopefully he retires and British tennis can just end.

I love how your attitude will almost certainly change when he's successful.

I think if his serve was upto scratch, he would have won.  How many times does Murray lose his serve 0-40 or because every serve he hits is his second serve.  He doesnt get any cheap points, not like he did before and for him not to serve an ace, shows how bad it was yesterday.  In the end, it's his return game that make his serve points won look good when they could just be average.  He hit the net alot yesterday and we should accept that more errors are going to come.  It shows he is trying to be aggressive, hitting hard and looking for the lines instead of looping the ball over the net.  It takes time to adjust his mentality of being aggressive when he naturaly looks to play safe.  I myself get pissed off when he plays safe, but if you watch his two matches im Rome, he is hitting the ball harder and flatter, its easier to accept if he loses.  He needs to start from the very first shot and the rest will follow.

Yeah, count the heads.

I'd say a total disaster, ad no sign of improvement.

There have been a few signs of improvement, but frankly yes - a bit of a disaster.

It's difficult to see how he could have done much worse in terms of results ...

I don't understand why 70% have disagreed with fuzzy's observation, you would think we were the official website. This clay court season has been a disaster, how can you possibly argue against that?

Clay season is 1) an improvement on last year and 2) not over. I may yet change my mind.

1) How is that an argument against my comment? I hope it was a joke.

2) Yes but so far it has been a disaster.

1) is an argument because i take last year as comparison. What's wrong with that? When you say "has this clay season been a disaster?" my first instinct isn't to compare it to other players or where we expect Murray to be, but how he'd doing compared to last year.

I would simply say that your way of thinking is completely wrong and illogical - you shouldn't judge whether someone has performed well by comparing it to something that never happened, you should instead compare it to his general success this year and the last as that is all we really have to go on.

Well it's not, it's just different to yours. He did play in Rome and he has gone a round further. I'm holding back on serious judgement until after Hamburg. Even then we can expect him to get past R3 as he's expected to meet seed 1-4. Depends who he gets. And bear in mind, he lost to stan who is now in the semi's in Rome.

Technically he has progressed but the question is not about progress. Whether you compare his performances to this year or his whole career, this clay court season has been a disaster. Your argument is so unbelievably weak, I've come to expect better from you.

lol Nice edit.

Ok look, his clay season hasn't been ideal. But disaster?? That's my point. I think he had a disaster at IW and Miami, but so far on Clay, i'm not EXPECTING anything of him. Yes, couple of disappointing results, sure he could do better. I'm just holding judgement until after Hamburg. That's all I'm saying.

Not voted yet, until Hamburg and RG are out the way.  We are in the middle of the clay court season. I'll reserve judgement until the end.  But been half way through, it's not ideal.

The above argument is utterly unreal.

I dont think this clay court season has been a disaster either, just a bit average. Its no better or worse than hes shown on clay in the past, probably better!

At worst its a 'shame' hes not competing well on clay.
