Why not just drop the Djoko comparison?

If there was no 'comparing' we'd probably be getting behind Andy right now - he's building up his physical strength and stamina; hopefully recognising the importance of more aggressive play; just completed a clay season which indicated promise for the future; heading in the right direction - almost back into the top 10 where hopefully he'll cement his place before moving steadily onwards and upwards.

Reading his book reminded me of his rise through the rankings - yes he rocketed up, but it was not smooth and seamless. There were injury time-outs, dodgy defeats, brilliant victories, disastrous spells which ran into periods of good form etc etc. In other words just like he is now. Typically Murray.

I think Peter Fleming got it right when he said recently that he thought Andy would fulfil his potential in his own way and at his own pace.

So forget the comparisons. Just chill out and enjoy Andy's journey.

I agree, remember if we didn't have Murray we wouldn't have any British player to watch at the big tournment's. Just let him fulfil his potential at his own pace.

Mark, I completely agree with you on this one.

I find that a pretty pointless argument, it's up to him to nail that top-8 place and if he hasn't done it by now then it's completely his own fault.

Also, when he was injured and missed the few tournaments, his ranking never suffered as bad as other players who've been out for injuries sustained.  Since reaching 8th ranking (which lasted for 2 weeks), he only ever dropped as far down as 22nd, which was in April of this year.  I agree that letting Brad go after working with him for what a year and a half was probably too soon.

I also think that comparison has become impossible to make. Back at the time when they were both new talents, Andy was better and had the brighter looking future ahead of him.
After some silly desicions, some bad luck and some bad attitude, Andy let the chance go. Djokovic has motivation, technique, mental strength, developed after so little time. He deserves to be next to Federer and Nadal.
