I played in a junior/adults doubles event at my club. Me and my partner got to the final but lost unfortunately.
Some photos are getting posted on my club's website that I might post.

Just had the Reserve Bank interview. Was quite tough and rigorous with questions about the world economy and monetary policy responses and the like. Think I answered mostly ok. Next step is a 2nd interview at the bank in Wellington. Will hear in a few weeks once the first interviews are all done.
Must have been ok as today I was invited to a 2nd interview in Wellington in early July. The woman on the phone told me the 2 interviewers were "very impressed" although I suspect that gets said to everyone who gets through to the next stage. It was definitely the type of interview that suited me, showing my knowledge of economics (and having studied the subject for about 8 years now I would hope to sound like I know what I'm talking about) rather than being flashy and outgoing enough for the likes of PWC. Didn't expect to get to the next stage though as they generally want people with Masters degrees. Also wasn't expecting to hear until next week as they said at the interview I would be contacted in the week starting June 2nd.

Nice one Much you can do in the next 6-7 weeks to prepare for that?

Well there's the small matter of exams to prepare for during that time aswell. Not to mention the dissertation that needs to get into a bit more motion than it has done thus far this year! I haven't got the full details yet so I don't know what type of interview it will be. There is also supposed to be some sort of written exercise too. An email is supposed to come sometime this week. But I guess just following the news and continuing to be aware of what's happening in the economy and in the world and possible effects on NZ etc. Government just released their annual budget last week so will have to study that in more detail and think about effects on inflation and that kind of thing. Also had to put down 2-5 "controversial economic policies/ideas you have an interest in" on the application and I put 3 but was only asked about 1 at the first interview. So perhaps there might be some discussion on those. Also there should surely be some more personal questions at some point to find out about my personality aswell as my knowledge so should think about the common types of questions like teamwork and strengths and all that. At the very least I'll get a free trip to Wellington out of it.

Been to an all day festival today... Just got dropped off by a friend who remained sober, I've been out since 9am this morning, I've got a cracking tan, seen some amazing bands/artists.

Possibly in the future but not straight away. Although by the terms of my scholarship I have to stay in NZ for at least 3 years after I finish studies anyway. Well I can leave, but I'd have to pay it all back. Think I'm allowed 6 weeks a year out of the country for the next 3 years or something like that. And currently I couldn't live in Australia anyway as I don't have NZ citizenship. Although it would only be a formality to get it if I did want to go to Oz.

Bummer re the scholarship but you could be in a worse place! Don't think I'd be interested in living/working in Oz but the kids might be - will have to see what they want to do in 3 years time (when we can apply for NZ citizenship).

Just received some details from the Reserve Bank and not only do they pay for the flight, they will also fly me down the evening before and pay for one night's accomodation to allow for possible flight delays. There will be 3 parts. A "technical interview" which I assume means economics and monetary policy based. A "general interview" which will be the personal stuff from HR about team work and strengths and long term plans and all that. And a "written exercise" which could be about anything. Presumably something topical at the time.

I'm not sure how much time there will be for exploring the city, but perhaps if it's anywhere near where I stay.
