How can you not give it a 10. It's the best film ever!

Yeah it probably does deserve a 10 but I wasn't in the right mood to watch it. Looking back, it is my perfect film. No slow start, constantly keeps your attention with so much action and suspense and they do it for 2 and a half hours!

I went to see the Dark Knight today - and now im gonna go all Barry Norman on its backside!
It was certainly a good film, and deffo the best summer blockbuster this years so far.
However, I dont think it was as good as the hype suggested. It was inevitable that with the hype it would never live up to that standards.
Good Points: -
- Some great action sequences. They were big and shot brilliantly.
- Visuals. Some of the scenes were mesmerising, espesh the hong kong scene. I almost developed a fear from heights just watching it.
- Joker. Now I know I said the hype of the movie meant that for me, the film was a let down. But the performance of Ledger was certainly NOT a let down. He was absolutely brilliant. He managed to be sadistic and scary while being loveable all at the same time.
Bad Points:-
- For me, the film was rushed. There were set-pieces after set-pieces. Some of the scenes seemed to just pile on more confusion on what was all going on as Nolan was clearly trying to ram as much into the movie as he could (he himself admitted that he doesnt know whether he will do a 3rd, hence he just concentrated on this film as an own entity and put as much into it as he could). Maybe if he let some scenes pan out, rather than keeping the constant soundtrack on, there would have been more character progression.
- One of the scenes were particularly silly. I wont say because I dont want to spoil it for those who havent seen it.
Overall, good film. Not great though. Batman Begins is, for me, the better movie.

I can't believe you put that as a bad point, it's one of the main reasons it is currently rating #1 as best movie of all time.

I easily get confused with what's going on in movies but I didn't think any of it was confusing and that is coming from someone who has no idea about the Batman stories.
I love that he had to ram everything in and yet it still had a 2:30 running time, fantastic

Its certainly not going to go down as the best movie of all time, thats just silly.
It wasnt as much confusing, just a bit too rushed in my opinion. They could have toned some of the dialogue scenes down, while keeping some of the action scenes. Instead everything was like a 100 miles an hour, which kinda prevents some of the complexities of the characters from developing.

Yet it already seems to be heading that way.

Sounds to me like you're not a fan of the action genre, having a rushed film is generally what every action fan wants. This film had constant flow of action and suspense, perfect!

Personally, I dont think it is better than Lord of the Rings or Shawshank redemption. But I guess films are different to everyone.
I do like action movies. I love Die Hard 1, and I am like, in love with the Lord of the Rings, espesh their action sequences.
Also, I loved Batman Begins. My fave comic book movie.

Yeah films are different for everyone and although the majority disagree with your grading of The Dark Knight, that doesn't make it wrong
For example, you consider Lord of the Rings as an action film where I certainly didn't feel it it was that - far too tedious with a serious lack of action scenes given the length of the film, could have easily gone to sleep.

BTW, I have never seen a movie twice in the cinema but I will be watching The Dark Knight again in two weeks. All feels a bit like a blur now so still should be enjoyable for a second time.

Was it worth the money seeing it twice? I always assume it would be sh*t as you know what is going to happen next.

Its not a film where your guessing what happens next like a thriller or anything. Its the whole scale and the adventure which is key in the story.
So with that in mind, yes it was worth seeing twice. I have to yet to see any action sequence/battle/fight in any movie ever better than the battle at Minas Tirith in Two Towers and the battle of Pelenoor fields in Return of the king.

I really couldn't get into the LOTR movies, I found most of the acting absolutely atrocious!!
The books were great though...
