It will be a clash of two titans when the world's number one tennis player, Roger Federer is matched up against his predecessor Pete Sampras of the United States in an exclusive match on Nov 22.

The Swiss superstar had only faced Sampras once in the early rounds of the 2001 Wimbledon.

"To play against Pete (Sampras) is a dream comes true. The only time I ever played him was in my first Centre Court appearance at Wimbledon, which I won in the fifth set," said Federer in a video conferencing at the launching of the Merdeka Tennis Challenge, here Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Sampras in a phone-interview said practising with Federer in March had given him the confidence as he felt that he really could hold his own.

"Playing Federer will be so special. It will be two players who have a similar temperament playing some great tennis for the sake of history.

Maybe it's just me, but I like to keep Sampras vs Federer as an unanswered question, and I'm sort of surprised (but not that much) both players (especially Sampras) don't think the same way.  All this barring the one match they had before.

I would think hard however IMO they should  play it on grass, don't know what the chances of that is since its taking place in US?
