I thought that we could be seeing the end of Federer's dominance and right now I'm almost convinced it just goes down hill from here and perfect timing for our Murray
It's happened now, Federer's dominance is officially over and what a great time for it to happen. Now we'll see Nole, Nadal and Murray fight it out for the top spot. Also possibly Tsonga if his amazing game doesn't crumble once the pressure is on, which it won't be until after this tournament is complete.
Federer will lose his no-1 spot this year, TIME FOR CELEBRATION PEOPLE!

I think Mark you might be a tad premature
One swallow does not a summer make.
But a fight for the number 1 spot will add so much more to the season rather than the dominance of Federer that we have endured for far too long.

It's not just one shock, it's many in the last year. This is the first Grand Slam shock which I consider to be the final blow.

His dominance is not over. I believe due to the way the tournaments fall, Fed will lose his number 1 spot after the French. But he'll still end the year number 1. Bear in mind he was ill prior to this tournament AND what's more, he hasn't played well at all in any of his matches. Djoko was good against an off-colour fed. He's not lost anything.

I think its so. Federer's dominance is over! He can be beaten by our young talent!
But so can Nadal! The age of Federer/Nadal dominance to coming to an end!
Djokovick to win this title! Murray to win Wimbledon! Just watch!

I don't agree at all. I also don't agree with Neil that he'll lose the number 1 spot by the French, because he has a lot of scope to improve in 3 out of 5 masters, but Nadal can't improve much, and i don't believe Djokovic can gain 1500 points more then him...

Fed is also playing Estoril before the French as well.
Federer will still stay number one but the gap will be closer and he'll probably need to play more tournaments as well.

I love the fact that you've quoted yourself, showing your prediction
I would love to believe that statement, I think it's really exciting the prospect of these two players in this final, but his dominance is far from over.

I was fairly confident of it back then but now I'm certain of it... he will struggle to win another Slam and therefore his dominance is over. I expect Nadal will temporarily take the no-1 spot from him soon until Nole eventually takes it for longer period.

What a load of bulls**t. He's lost one match. He has to lose sometime, he is only human. He'll still win Wimbledon and the US this year.

Mark, you said this when Canas beat him at IW and Miami last year.

He still got to the semi finals of a grand slam with no preparation due to being ill and then playing poorly throughout. No way was he 100% fit. It still took the number 3 at the absolute top of his game to beat him. And it was closer than the score suggests. If Federer had won that tiebreak, he'd have won in 5 without a doubt IMO. That is, if Djokovic didn't pull out with a blister or a broken toe nail or something.
I think it's fair to say that now he has Nadal and Djokovic around, he might not win another grand slam without actually being challenged like he has done in the past. But to say he'll struggle to win another one full stop is way over the top. It can only be good for the game if we now have 3 likely GS winners instead of just 1 or 2.

Yes and he's got worse and worse since then, so I stick by that comment.

And? He still got worse and worse regardless of him winning those slams.

I personally think the field of challengers has become stronger, I personally don't think he's become 'worse' in the last 12 months. But still, I don't see him losing his no 1 status this year unless Rafa performs better than him at Wimbledon and the USO.
