I can see Nadal taking the Wimbledon title and Nole taking the US Open title  Think

Djokovic maybe but Nadal no.

Urgh, I hope Nadal doesn't get it.  I'd be happy is Nole did.

I have no problem with either of them taking it although it would be nice to see Nadal take non-clay Slam.

I'm English, but don't worry, I understood you, I was just wondering where you think he should be ranked at the moment? (that is, his current ATP ranking doesn't take in to account his long injury last year, so its a bit of a false ranking...)

Djokovic maybe but Nadal no.

Rafa almost had it last year, it was a very close final, both won 26 games each!
Although Nole retired during the semi with Rafa, he was still on course to lose in 4.
People mistakingly wrote Rafa off before Wimbledon last year as a fluke in 06, but 2 finals in a row is no mean feat!

You forget that Youzhny was two sets up in the QF (or maybe last 16) before he got injured, and that Soderling should have beat Rafa as well.

Youzhny finished the match and Rafa is well known for being able to stick out 5 setters!
I disagree that he should have lost to Soderling....

Only because Youzhny is more of a fighter than Djokovic.  He would never retire in the semis of a GS and would keep playing until he could barely walk.

Anyway, in reply to the title of the thread I see Fed being overtaken by Djokovic just after Wimbledon, with Rafa dropping to number 3.

Obviously his race is a good idnication of where he should be ranked at the moment. So 6th it is.

Without question you are Mark.  It has only been the bringing up of the mono by him that has put a question on it.

If he does really have it, he may well come back.  If not then you will have been right in every way, that it was just a smoke screen he was putting out because he couldn't face the truth!!

I've reset the poll so everyone can re-vote so we can observe if there is any shift in a opinion since I put it up.

His dominance is 'mostly over' and its mainly because the motivation is slowly ebbing out of his game, coupled with a fairly decent generation of players coming through.

The problem is, I think Federer will still probably win 2 grand slams this year, as he will be motivated enough for those - especially at Wimbledon. However, he'd already basically become a player who only played for Masters + Slams, i dont think he can sustain being a player who only plays for Slams.

I'm so happy for Nadal - he must now be feeling that his chance to be no-1 is here. Yes Nole is the new obstacle but much more manageable than Federer.
