Two more friendlies, against the USA, and i think the Czech Republic, but I'm not sure about the second one.
Anyway, you basically said he wasn't competent - is that not saying that he's crap? Anyway, like i said, it wasn't a normal Rooney up front - he had Cole and Gerrard there as well. Maybe he saw something in that which could work. It didn't work, but since he knows a lot more about football then me or you, he must have realised it was worth a try. Don't just join the bandwagon of the popular press!
And Neil, yes, Scotland are the best.

I meant more competence in the performance than in him but ah well. He's not crap, but both his games in charge have yielded pretty ordinary performances so thus far it's same old same. But can't argue with his record so perhaps he'll find a way to turn things around in time. Being able to speak the same language as the players might be a decent starting point! lol

Could have fooled me in his post match interview then!
He was asked the question in English and answered in Italian.

He said by the Switzerland friendly that he doesn't want to speak in English to the press yet, because they can twist every word he says, so he's going to wait until he's 100% confident in the language. But he speaks in English to the players. In fact, i read a couple of interviews with players who said how suprised they were at how good his English was. Alex, you obviously support Arsenal more then England, thats probably why you don't follow England news so much! Like most fans of the big teams in England...

First good article I've seen in ages about football! Look at the article on Goal.com called 'footballs most hated: Credit where it's due'. Entirely agree with everything he says.

Absolutely not true and I actually resent that.
I just hadn't read anything about how his English was progressing and when he was asked such a simple question as "how do you feel after your first defeat?" and he could not say "the result is disappointing but I am trying new things and I am pleased with what I saw today" in English, I took that as meaning his English was pretty limited.

Ah, sorry Alex, I assumed that you don't follow England as much because it was quite widely reported on at the time. He basically said he won't say one word in English to the press until he's 100% confident. Were you not wondering why noone reported yesterday that he spoke in Italian?

People's minds don't often work like that, and what's more, not everyone reads all the news reports etc etc. And bear in mind, Alex is in NZ where they are unlikely to report on an English friendly match on TV. Let alone any England related news at all.

Don't assume. It makes an ass out of u and me. lol
