Halo is still the benchmark in online console gaming IMO.

COD4 is the benchmark for single player war games. HL2 is the general benchmark for single player.
COd4's multi-player is absolute sh*t from my experience.

I'd say it's the other way around, the multi player is really good, although I guess you're playing it on PC.

I've played a lot of multi-player games before but on PC at least you couldn't see what was going on around it, there was constant non-stop noise of gunfire as well.
Admittedly I haven't tried any other maps so maybe I should give it another shot. It's just I hated it straight away.

I hated it initially, but as you unlock more maps, more types of games and better weapons, it gets better. I'm on level 12, I think, and my friend has said it really gets good after level 15. Even though, I was never big on these types of games, and especially online, I've found CoD4 to be really addictive.

OMG, I take back everything I said about COD4 multi-player. Mike's comment persuaded me to give it another go and it's not so bad after all. I simply had a very bad first experience because it was on a crap map and was team death match.
No where near as good as Counter-Strike: Source but it's quite nice

Does no one play Counter-Strike: Source here? Does anyone even do online gaming on the PC at all here?

I do, when I'm at uni. And I have lost what little touch I had back in the day.

That's genuinely tragic news. You need a few lessons from the master.

Chris, are you the one at the top of the score board for DDR at that big arcade in central London?
I can't remember what the arcade was called but Cate played DDR there yesterday and said she saw that 'TCK' was at the top.

Please don't say she beat my score!
In other news, Rock Band has finally been given a European release date of May 23rd. Shame it's irrelevant due to the announced RRP of £180 for both the game and peripherals. The US price for the same is $169, resulting in an over 100% markup. Put into perspective the Wii costs $250.
Guess I'm not getting Rock Band anymore.
