Well John I'm here watching the livescore. I'll post the game-by-game result if I'm still here an hour or so later.

Early results include reigning finalist Stepanek losing to Clement in 3 sets so he'll be out of the top 50 next week, Tursunov's retired a set down to Andreev, Andy's Conqueror Gilles Simon, spanked fellow Frenchie Gicquel 6-1, 6-0, Mathieu's beaten Ollie Rochus while there are also wins for Ferrero, Almagro and Monaco. No shocks as of yet....

Edit: Another defeat for former RG Champion Gaston Gaudio, Gasquet's beaten him 6-1,6-4.

Canas v Chela game-by-game updates (especially for John Wink)

1st Set (Canas score first)
0-1* Chela fights back from 30-0 down to break immediately.
*0-2   Chela holds to 15.
0-3* Chela forces 3 break points, Canas saves the first two....then the scoreboard freezes  Rolling Eyes Chela breaks.
*0-4   Another straightforward hold for Chela.
1-4* Canas is on the scoreboard! He holds to 15.
*1-5   Chela holds to 15 and with a DF.
1-6    A first DF for Canas hands Chela 3 SP's. Canas fights off the first but a second DF hands Chela the set.

Both players serving averagely around the 50% mark, the only difference 100% of points won on Chela's 1st serves.

2nd Set
1-6, *1-0   That's more like it! Canas breaks immediately to love
1-6,   2-0* Canas holds to 15.
1-6, *2-1   Chela holds to 30 but his 2nd set serve percentage is a lowly 30% after 2 games.
1-6,   3-1* Chela forces 2 break back points, both of which are snuffed out by Canas who then holds.
1-6, *4-1   Oh dear, Chela blows a 30-0 lead and Canas breaks for a second time this set. Bet he's regretting not taking those break points in the previous game...
1-6,   4-2* Third game in a row that forces break points, then predictably the scoreboard freezes  Rolling Eyes according to another site, Chela breaks back.
1-6, *4-3   Chela holds, no idea what to though, scoreboard still positively f**ked.
1-6,   5-3* Canas holds, scoreboard still on the blink....can you tell I'm a li'l bit agitated by now?
1-6, *5-4   Another hold by Chela. Canas serving for set.
1-6,   6-4   Monster game but Canas holds and takes it to a decider.

3rd Set

1-6, 6-4, *0-1   Chela holds.
1-6, 6-4,   1-1* Canas holds.
1-6, 6-4, *1-2   Chela holds.
1-6, 6-4,   1-3* Chela breaks.
1-6, 6-4, *1-4   Chela holds.
1-6, 6-4,   1-5* Chela breaks again and will serve for a place in the second round against Hewitt.
1-6, 6-4,   1-6 Chela holds and indeed sets up a mouth-watering tie with Hewitt.

Sorry I couldn't be more help, the atp livescore is still stuck at 6-1 to Chela in the first set....  ranting

Other Results:

Hewitt df. Calleri 6-3, 6-4. Hewitt looked pretty comfortable and had numerous opportunities in the second set before breaking him once, gone broken back after a loose game then broke him again.
Soderling df. Ginepri 4-6, 6-4, 6-3. Soderling the headcase emerged again....Wasted four set points in the first before double faulting on Ginepri's only break point, which happened to be set point too. Then squandered more chances after being a break up in the second before seeing off Robby the Clay Clown pretty comfortably in the third set. 'The Toad' should have won far more convincingly. He faces Ferrer next.
Serra df. Bolleli 6-7, 6-2, 6-2. No breaks in the first set, then all one way traffic. Serra will need to up his game if he wants to take out Ljuby next.

Mind-blowing tiebreak with Safin and Massu. I knew it would be a tough one, but I still hope Safin can win it. Think

EDIT: Safin takes the first set 7/6 (7).
